Even CC has constantly said so with her reminder: one game at a time. Besides, this game is a big sloppy and messy game in terms of their player's usual capabilities.... so many unforced errors, turnovers, and missed easy shots/open shots/in the paint shots/layups (including CC's easy layups and 3-pt shots).

One of the things that I've really started to appreciate about this Fever team that Sides and Dunn have been working onbuilding is that no two players are super alike. If something isn't clicking or matching up personnel wise to their opponent in a given game, or moment within a game, they can rotate other solid players off the bench like a Swiss Army knife. The team has a wide range of different challenge variations they can send onto the court. They are becoming very flexible and good at adjusting over time.

@@gardengal87 hmmm....I love Mitchell after the Allstar break but today she reverted back to her old self most of the game. Mitchell scores at a high % when she gets the ball and shoots! I mean unbelievable the best in the WNBA but when she tries to do it herself the field goal % goes way, way down. I know old habits are hard to break but she doesn't have to do it all now. Mitchell catching and shooting no one is better in the league and she's unstoppable. The hero ball however doesn't work, ugh.

It's a big win at home (important for the fans) along with CC's second Triple Double (which is a huge accomplishment on her part and a great booster for the fans and the team as a whole)... with that said... I say it's a sloppy game with many turnovers, unforced errors, missed shots and missoportunity. Luckily, (like in all the wins before)... people stepped up when most needed and delivered the crucial scores (and defense) like Lexie, Wheeler, and Boston. Defense is much much better compared to the start of the season... right along with many missed easy layups, open shots, shots in the paint (including CC's attempts - heck, she even missed her most routinely-easy layup shot!). They cannot go very far in the playoffs if this is the kind of game they're taking to that level. Overall, this is NOT one of their good games, but they still got the win (by the other team's unintentional contribution of their own mishaps)... imagine what they can do when they are with their full potential and capability in their good games.

I agree that many were too hard on the coach and the other players. There were some unrealistic expectations early in the season, many fans were expecting that adding Caitlin would instantly make the Fever a top team in the league, and when the team wasn't winning, they were frustrated and wanted changes in coaching, management and players immediately. The team stuck together and has adjusted and become a very formidable team in the league. I think Sides is a great coach. Some may not like or appreciate her style. I think she is good though. Let's don't forget that Christy Sides said at beginning of season. We scored 13 wins last year, CC needs to learn how WE PLAY and it will take a couple years to get use to the physicality of the league. Also, this isn't College anymore, and CC will have to learn to play pro ball. We want CC to quit shooting Log 3's and shoot long 2's. I think maybe Sides has change her stance a little, she still needs to accept this is all possible because of this new player CC, she will be the greatest player ever when she is done.

Sides... Forcing it into the paint over and over becomes predicable (leading to 8 turnovers in the 1st quater). They have to let the game flow naturally and that is how they ended up winning. Sure if the bigs have an opportunity the play will come their way. If it isn't there you cant force it. Sure bring up spacing the floor and take advantage of the middle when it comes. Naturally. Let CC handle that and she will see the correct play develop according to what the opponents are doing on D. You can stick to handling the rotation and calling time outs if the team needs to refocus and yell at the refs for being terrible as they usually are.
@braywyatt849

They needed to go in-paint but they are not good in there, I mean tonight showed that... They double-marked cc so much they had to score in-paint shots but they don't have a good consistent shooter in that range. AB was supposed to do that, she had so many opportunities to score because for majority of the game she was left unmarked in-paint... So the coach needs to brush up on that

@@robbieanderson649Agree. Fever have played their best when play up-tempo. CC has said that several times. KM has said several times that she likes playing up-tempo as well. The slow half-court offense isn’t going to work well in the playoffs. Plus, another thing with the forcing the ball in the paint is that there are never any kick-outs. How many times does the ball go in the paint, and there are 1-2 of the Fever good shooters open at the 3-point arc but never get the ball kicked out to them?

Coach Sides does such an amazing job walking that fine line with CC. You wouldn't want a coach to let the fame get to CC's head and let her get too comfortable. But you also don't want a coach who doesn't acknowledge CC's achievements and give her proper credit. Coach Sides does such a great job of praise and acknowledgement but also focus on areas of continued improvement and growth as well. And it really shows in CC's answers to press questions. Whenever CC is asked about her individual accolades, she always pivots and says she's just playing the game to win and any personal achievements are just cherries on top. She's handling the fame and pressure well herself.
