I'm in Ontario, Canada but one of my favourite tracks to watch on TV calls Indiana home - and it isn't one yoy mentioned. Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt. 1/4 mile high banked dirt bullring with a concrete wall all around it. The World of Outlaws Sprint Cars race there once a year and sub 10 second laps aren't uncommon. Easily one of the races I look forward to and it never disappoints.

Lucas Oil Stadium will get monster jam and motoross events. We have the only accredited BS in Motorsport Engineering university. The revived 16th Street Speedway (old Bush Stadium) did get converted into a housing project (Stadium Lofts, themed around the old baseball diamond, and with the biggest housing block constructed on top of the old grandstands), but there are still a _lot_ of tracks around for all kinds of racing. Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Indianapolis Raceway Park are probably the two most prominent facilities, hosting the biggest events, but as S1ap has shown, there are plenty of others all over Central Indiana. And that doesn't even count the racetracks in the rest of the state!

My personal favorite track in the state is Tri State Speedway in southern IN on highway 41. some of the best nonwing sprint car racing in the country. the place usually runs the local midwest sprint car series MSCS and a lot of the USAC guys will run it if they don't have any scheduling conflicts. USAC sprint cars have 3 races a year. the USAC Midgets have been making a couple stops there a year recently, World of Outlaws usually comes to town in the spring, and around July the late model summernationals come to town. Any race you go to here will put on a show. EDIT: the MSCS series that I mentioned has now announced they are ceasing operations. Disappointing and a majority of the MSCS races were at Tri State, it will be interesting to see what happens now. Maybe they will race for track points like most others in the state and/or maybe they will bring in even more variety to the track.

Just to clarify, Bush Stadium wasn't used for baseball after 16th street speedway. They built a new Ballpark downtown in 2000, Victory Field, and it's still used today. Bush Stadium was left abandoned until sometime in the 20-teens (can't remember exactly when) it was converted into an apartment complex. They used the main grandstand structure for some of the apartments with patios that overlook the former track/field. They're called the stadium lofts and are still there.

Here’s a tip for anyone working or owning a race track: Plant Trees. My local track, Kil-Kare, has trees surrounding both the drag track and oval. Trees don’t grow overnight so the sooner you plant the quicker you have less stress over noise complaints

So many people descend on Indy for the racing alone. I had a well-off friend in high school whose dad owned a second house right up against the fence of the Brickyard. I've lived in Anderson my entire life. This year I went to my first Little 500 and it was absolutely insane! My boss is a nascar driver and he we both went together. We actually went to my first Indy 500 this year as well! His son just finished 4th in a legend car at Mt. Lawn last night in his first ever race. I wouldn't want to live in any other state, we really do have everything here!

A little side note. Busch Stadium does not host the Indians (our Minor League team) but instead are now apartments. Source: I’m sitting at my desk looking out of my office window since I work right next door to it. Also 2 miles away from IMS. Great Video!

As someone from Belgium with a background in motorsport, that makes the pilgrimage to Indy every may since 2022 . I totally agree, Its an atmosphere you need to experience during the whole weekend , nice people, enjoying great racing. I would have loved to meet you at the Lucas Oil 150. I was sitting in the middle of the main grandstand. And my friends and I already have plans set for next year.

We have a nice little road course called Putnam Park just 40 minutes West of Indy. Indy region SCCA is very active putting on events at Putnam and also the Grissom Aeroplex up in Peru. Not to mention that the National SCCA uses IMS for their end of year event (the Runoffs) every so often. Truly the mecca of motorsports.

It’s been a yearly tradition for my family. We come in from the North and stay on the Geist Reservoir. The night before we have dinner and usually go to the Indianapolis Speedrome. Exceptions include Racing Go-Karts, learning to drive heavy equipment, flying general aviation planes, and etc. The day of the race we walk a mile to get to our turn one seats. It’s incredible to be part of the greatest spectacle in racing every year. F1 in the morning, Indycar in person, & the Coke 600 in the night on our way back home. Thank you for this video!

Went to the little 500 for the first time and I agree. It was chaos. I loved every second of it. I will be going back next year no doubt about it. Getting out of the track after the race was super easy to.

Slap, that video hit every chord with me. I’ve grown up in Indy and I love this town. I’m 26 and have been to every Indy 500 since 2005. The race nuts here are like none other, we are insanely passionate about all things motorsports. Up until Peyton Manning, racing and college hoops was it for us. Us Hoosiers welcome you with open arms anytime brother! Cheers

"Motorsports Mecca" is quite an appropriate analogy, considering lots of people from around the world make a pilgrimage to Indianapolis every May for the Indy 500 (one which I hope to eventually complete myself). Out of curiosity, for those of you who _have_ done that, how far did you travel to see the race?
