The funny thing is that walmart in the US is considered a low end supermarket where the lower class frequents. Then you have things like publix, harris teeter, trader joes, HEB, wegmans that are considered higher quality and then things higher than that or places that have better quantity value prices like costco and sams club

Most Walmart price stickers have 2 prices. The one in the yellow section is the cost to buy the item. The one in the orange section is the per unit price (per weight or per volume), ostensibly to use to compare different options/brands/sizes, but the orange per unit price is sometimes wrong.

Not to sound like a jerk, but actually Walmart has a greatly reduced number of brands and variety, over regular grocery stores. Walmart is huge, but it also sells clothing and furniture and tires and they do car repair and all sorts of things under that roof. A dedicated grocery store has far more selection than this.

Mangoes are always available here. But, why buy them? Here in Florida you can just stop somewhere and pick your own. Most people don't mind cause their trees produce more than they can eat themselves.

You mentioned Aldi as if you consider it to have a wide selection so I wonder if the I found in the US is similar. The Aldi here has very good prices but the selection is very limited. There are many major brands that they don't carry but are in almost all other grocery stores. I found it interesting that mangos are so prevalent in India even more so than here in Southern California. Even though they grow here they are not hugely popular.

The same company own's them. But, they are adapted to each area they are in. If you go to an east coast Walmart, they will be a bit different than those along the west coast, and just like those in the mid-western state's, that sell actual ATV's(4-wheeler's), right there in the store...

@@undrtakr2222 Aldi and Walmart aren't affiliated. But you are right about grocery stores in general. Throughout Southern California stores cater to the predominately Latino community unless it is in an Asian neighborhood where they stock an entirely different array of items.

@@robertvirnig638 that's what I was sayin. Just didn't keep repeatin the different name's, as I figured people would catch on to what I was sayin. And yes, they adapt to the culture of the area. Just as Walmart in Canton, Ohio(About 10-15 minute's from my house), and the Walmart in my own hometown of Massillon, Ohio(About 5-7 minute's away, dependin on the light's), are actually set up a bit different, as the 1 in Canton is more of a "ghetto" Walmart, with much more locked up behind those plastic/glass door's, and etc, than the very same stuff in my hometown. And, there are certain thing's, that are in my Walmart, that's not in the 1 in Canton. But, they are only that far apart from each other, but so different, at the same time...

@robertvirnig638 BTW, I do know, that the Sam Walton family doesn't own Aldi's. They own Sam's Club and Walmart, and they also used to own all of the Ben Franklin thrift store's, before Sam closed them down, so he could basically replace them with the Walmart store's, instead. And, he created the Sam's Clubs with his family and friend's in mind, along with himself, of course. So, yes I know much more than I tend to speak about. And, I do know that the 2 store's, that are similar in their layout, are not the same, nor are they owned by the same people. Aldi's is actually a store, that is actually from outside of the US, as it was started in the other country, before they began to take on the giant of Walmart and the Walton family...
