I am so saddend by what the "missionarys" did to the children!! Canada too terrible to grab a child away from their culture. I am ashamed of my european ancestors who did much worse to Native Americans than any torment black slaves endured. They multiplyed but the whole of North America lost millions & thousands of Indiginous folks. The Cherokees were in Georgia. The settlers came in & told them to be more like them so they started a printing press,& dressed like Europeans,& lived in houses trying to please & to "fit" in". And that's how the Trail of Tears started when the settlers were so predjudiced maybe not all but most i bet. So they rounded them up & marched them across the country,Nazi style! & breaks my heart . But the remnant held in & it is beautiful to hear the Native teachings handed down so sacredly from generation to generation. I do think Natives are one of the Lost tribes of Israel. & there are writings of a tribe that Jesus visited. His uncle was Joseph of Aramethea who gave the tomb for Jesus. He was all over in Tibet too, remember 20 years are missing in bible of where Jesus actually was. There is a tribe that has a tradition of a visitor from afar that fits Jesus description. A man of peace & love of course the natives loved him back & had some strikenly similar christian worshipping in their ceremonys. I forget where i read they were. So I enjoy hearing the storys & when Natives trust us enough to share their rich culture & traditions then we need to sit quietly & listen & contemplate the wisdom passed down. This Eclipse is a final warning to Earth. & be reverent & listen to the hushed air & total silence when the sun is darkened. I experienced one whe little & we were inside & the air changed, birds got very still, was eerie .

...I like how these indigenous teachings encourage a time of reflection during an eclipse and being together inside with family and not outdoors while the eclipse is happening. Our teachings of an eclipse relate to eagle witnessing an eclipse that foretold of a coming darkness. Then, when raven witnesses this eclipse some generations later the world came out of that darkness created by the eclipse when eagle witnesses it. The journey taking place in between eagle's sighting and raven's sighting are stories of meditation that is focused on family reconciliation. There are parallels between our stories that teach and encourage the same thing.

The Indigenous peoples are right. I'm a very energy sensitive person, and some solar eclipses have made me downright sick, even sitting in the house with curtains closed. The last one (October 2023) affected me sitting in an airport as well, although not as badly. I suspect the differences between them have to do with other astrological influences. But regardless, for me, they all feel bad and going outside to see them would be foolishness.

I used to have a strong conection with nature specially with trees and birds .. and used to sing and played the sax and the flute.. when I return to my house I had a very strange dream and it has cost me a lot to play the flute and to nature… I loved the sunset s all of my life and it has cost me a lot to connect in that special moment

I am grateful for this! Thank you. All of the stories are beautiful and quite scientific! I am learning your histories. I can see the arrogance of white culture and scholars now. Languages are thought processes unique from all other languages. Expression is different. The Natives knew not to gaze at the eclipse and lived this science with sacred tradition that honored it. The Arapaho story clearly describes the effect of heat and the moons pull in currents in the river and lakes. There is so much here. I don’t hear superstition or simplicity. The simplicity is to pass knowledge in a way all intelligence levels in the tribe can understand. Done with beauty and easy to remember. There is no superstition about it. And yes eclipses can cause disharmony. Science proves it. You’ve known for thousands of years. No superstitions here at all. As I get old, I stay in during eclipses too. And the animals most definitely are affected and unbalanced. I love your nations!!! The Cherokee have more depth in the frog. I think more stories connected to them exist. I know there is more to learn here. Their story telling us rhythmic and deliberate, structured. Not superstition. Again. I truly love you all.

Wow, this perspective and practices are identical to Mongolian indigenous practices. Some Mongolians also drum, sit together, don't leave their jurts or shoot the guns when eclipses occur. Instead of the giant frog they speak of Rach, originating from the Indian Legend on Rahu. Are their any Cherokee/Navajo book references for this story? I am writing my thesis on this and I would love to mention this. It could be also another hint for the Bering Land Bridge Theory. They're quick to show people fancy graphics showing the path of totality so that you can be assured a 'good view' of the event. I didn't see the sun though because it was in the opposite direction of where i was facing as i headed to my car. I kept thinking I'd tell my mom how dark the sky was. It looked like i was a video game with dark gray clouds. As I pulled out of the hotel and went to my next destination, it suddenly hit me that there was to be an eclipse that day!! Old traditions are similar. Hindu tradition says the same thing - fasting and meditating while solar eclipse is on. No looking at the sun. Even blinds drawn. Whole day praying. Once eclipse is over ,take a bath and maybe break your fast. Solar eclipse has a powerful effect on you only if you are receptive to the energy. Only those whose consciousness is high get a soulful experience. For others it would be just another party event.

I am a grandmother of a Navajo tribe... What hurts me most at the moment, where are your Navajo names... Only names of the Navajos... They kept our children and gave them names...

Respect to our Mother Earth. Matka Ziemia kochana nasza. We are the children to sit and wait in stillness during this powerful time. It's not about us...humanity should not make a show out of it. Peace and blessings to All beings

I stared at the eclipse with my eyes. Nothing bad happened to me. If anything it removed resentment and accelerated my thirst for Gnosis

Hello my Grandmother said that the Moon and Sun fight you have to be very careful not to be outside during the time of eclipse also woman that are expecting if they are out side they have to wear a key close to the belly so it will not harm the baby sometimes the baby is born with a defect so have to be careful something new to me not to drink or eat next time i will use this advice THANK YOU for sharing.

Curious if any of your elder Days teachings mention the second Sun that is no longer lit that follows the same paths as the Day sky Moon which is the Moon that blocks the sun during total eclipse. Two moons one day and one night Day moon traverses South to North as well as the blackened Sun
