As I listen, it's like a timeline of my life & or probably many of us 50-60 year old 🏳️🌈. Indigo Girls , Amy & Emily both individually with their own unique styles & then together have been a staple or backbone to my life. Their music again both separately & together has helped me navigate my life. Thank you from this 61 year old lesbian! 😁☮️🤙🎸🎤

If you never did anything else, this song would be a great gift to this world. I played it on our college radio station in 1989. My mother called in once to request it. RIP Mom❤ Everyone worth a damn loves this song.

Our employee band used to sing this in my (historically girls) school the night before graduation. Kids would sing along at the top of their lungs to "Got my papers and I was freeeeeeeee!" Such an awesome memory. I adore this song.

First heard this in college. Formative time. A time to get into new music. NEVER before heard anything like this. Pre-KZitem. Pre-iPod. Just radio play. Then I practically wore out the 1st CD, and the next one,etc.... to this day, no other musician touches me as deeply. Did the Indigo Girls have an impact on my life? Oh, heck, yeah!

I don’t know how I had not heard this song until this past Monday night when Lila Forde sang it on The Voice. I had to know more. I’m hooked. I love the message of this song. I had very recently had a conversation with my daughter about how there are LESS answers to life’s questions the older you get.

I'm trying to tell you something 'bout my life Maybe give me insight between black and white And the best thing you ever done for me Is to help me take my life less seriously It's only life after all, yeah Well, darkness has a hunger that's insatiable And lightness has a call that's hard to hear And I wrap my fear around me like a blanket I sailed my ship of safety till I sank it I'm crawling on your shores And I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains I looked to the children, I drank from the fountains There's more than one answer to these questions Pointing me in a crooked line And the less I seek my source for some definitive (The less I seek my source) Closer I am to fine, yeah Closer I am to fine, yeah And I went to see the doctor of philosophy With a poster of Rasputin and a beard down to his knee He never did marry or see a B-grade movie He graded my performance, he said he could see through me I spent four years prostrate to the higher mind Got my paper and I was free And I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains I looked to the children, I drank from the fountains There's more than one answer to these questions Pointing me in a crooked line And the less I seek my source for some definitive (The less I seek my source) Closer I am to fine, yeah Closer I am to fine, yeah I stopped by the bar at 3 A.M. To seek solace in a bottle or possibly a friend And I woke up with a headache like my head against a board Twice as cloudy as I'd been the night before And I went in seeking clarity I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains I looked to the children, I drank from the fountains We go to the doctor, we go to the mountains We look to the children, we drink from the fountain Yeah, we go to the Bible, we go through the workout We read up on revival, we stand up for the lookout There's more than one answer to these questions Pointing me in a crooked line And the less I seek my source for some definitive (The less I seek my source) Closer I am to fine Closer I am to fine Closer I am to fine, yeah

Wowza, you can tell this video was made by someone who never owned a CRT. Mostly because of that CRT TV floating on water. CRTs are a technology that weighed so much (largely because large amounts of copper and lead were required) that you'd have to bribe people to help you move one. So to see one bobbing like a plastic toy is jarringly surreal, even in the context of a surrealist video: It breaks the rules of surreality.
