Growing Chinese aggression in the Indo-Pacific has prompted Indonesia to step up its military power. Indonesia is launching a program to modernise its navy and build up a more effective deterrent to China. Reports say Jakarta is planning to spend nearly $125 billion to modernise its military. Indonesia is reportedly preparing to confront Chinese incursions into its exclusive economic zone (EEZ). China has been accused of bullying and aggressive tactics against its neighbours in the South China sea. Beijing is involved in territorial disputes with Indonesia over the Natuna Islands and other parts of the South China Sea.
