I just made the new layer(3) below the lines layer. I only use that standard round brush and the airbrush.

This video is invaluable. Have you tried using other drawing techniques to make presentation renderings? For example ,rather than draw first with Sketchbook, then importing into Photoshop, only use Photoshop and use the pen tool or the pen curvature tool to create the line art, which you then can reuse to create clipping masks to help with the shading. Might take a bit longer time, but should make much cleaner and more accurate renderings, especially for products with fine details.

Thank you and yes I work often only in photoshop as well. But for what you say it would be much better to just work directly in illustrator. I like to bring the element of dirtiness and and imprecision into my drawing feels a bit more natural and dynamic.

Great job, can I ask what is the file format that you exported the sketches into photoshop?I cannot see that file extension clearly.
@robertlkiss

Most drawing apps these days can save as psd. So I save my files in sketchbook as psd files. So there's no hassle in opening them in photoshop.

@@robertlkiss my apologies for not being clearer, I wanted to know what format can I scan and export the the hand sketches into so that I can render them in Photoshop because outside of my former school I have not found copic markers so I want to see if I can make up for that by sketching by hand and rendering in photoshop. I hope I am clearer, at least :)

This was great to follow... It gave me so much motivation to continue my project! Just wondering though, between the process of generating ideas and getting to the final design, how much time did it take you?
@robertlkiss

Ufff that was some time ago but I can take more or less time I general. You can spend half a day day or more days as well. I imagine since I was doing this for a video this took me half a day to a day from 1st sketches to final drawing.

Im new to industrial design drawing so I just want to know why do design drawings have a border?
@robertlkiss
5 жыл бұрын
First of all welcome to industrial design, hope you enjoy it :) And to answer your question a border is not necessarily something that you can only find in industrial design but it helps a lot with the composition of a visual. If you pause the video at 0:30 you can notice that without the border your eyes sort of float off the elements. The border helps the eye stay on the visual. This is a composition trick to keep the viewer interested. A black border is not always the best solution for this but it is the easiest.

Hi there. What exactly are you doing that you think your method is not efficient? In photoshop I render the same way most of the time. I don't know if you saw my chainsaw tutorial. that is my standard rendering way.
