What you're calling a 'special crosspoint' bit in the Great Talent kit is Pozidriv - extremely common in Europe and the UK. My favourite bit ratchet sets are Wera and Facom. The Facom Pico sets are available in the US branded as Mac Tools (Mac and Facom are both Stanley Black & Decker brands), and I believe they inspired the Icon set from Harbor Freight that is very popular now - they certainly look very similar.

Craftsman has fallen off the last few years. When I was a teenager they were a go to for quality tools, today they are known for having durability issues.

More expensive but I really like the Wera tool check plus. Downside of each set only being in either metric or imperial so the cost goes up significantly compared to these options.

I love the gearwrench set but for the rachet itself the flexible EZRED 4S04 Micro Combo Dual Ratchet Socket is absolutely amazing, especially for tight areas.

I have a Whia set that I loved so much that I got a 2nd mini ratchet. The second one was defective but still usable, so I kept it. I just picked up an "Icon" mini ratchet set from my local Harbor Freight that looks and feels impressive. I cannot wait to use it.

Interesting collection! Pretty happy with the Power Torque 1/4 Bit Ratchet, but it doesn't come with a set. I am looking into the Tough Built Model 42873... I just haven't found one in person to inspect the quality of the bits and sockets. I've also heard the Kobalt set is good.

Great video! A US company called Wadsworth Falls makes the absolute best precision mini ratchet, bit and driver sets. Not cheap and often sold out but worth every penny. Especially if you’re a traveling tech.

there’s a little kit that I got from my work called the Wadsworth mini super deluxe kit (52pcs). CONS: •price is probably a couple/few of those kits combined •the bits seem proprietary to that ratchet PROS: •it’s ability to get in some tight spaces is amazing •tolerances compared to my two other mini ratchet kits is unrivaled ever heard of/seen it? if so, what’re your thoughts?

I understand you got the Wera toolcheck plus, but that craftsman ratchet could be replaced with a VIM HBR-3. It has a similar setup of box end and ratchet, but the retention clip is similar to the one on the Wera mini ratchet.

2:39 Can't you swap the rotation of that insert backwards ? Then it can't pop out and the circlip is unloaded from any force. 17:58 You can also spot the difference in "wall" thickness between both sockets, the cheap one has very thin wall on the six corners, compared to the Craftsman (Craftsman seems to have double the amount of material in the corners) I bet during the first two times you put strenght on that cheap one, it will pop open like popcorn. With handtools it's also important to see if they got plastic on the handgrip or not, in plastic is many types of quality. Soms have that "softgrip" feeling, but after a while, they become very sticky and gluey, and some plastic can't withstand oil or cleaning liquids like Isopropanol. 36:11 That last one seems to have some sort of clip in the middle of the box ?

Cheap and low quality are not always the same. While yes, many of these are very affordable options, they are still very functional with no real defects. I have a whole second video on the more expensive mini ratchets. For most technicians who will use one of these minis once a month or so, these will be fine.
