Climate Control panel test mode:
1. Turn the key to the "ON" position
2. Hold the "OFF" button down on the climate control unit for 5 seconds
3. Press the "^" (HOT) button 3 times for fan testing and 4 times for temperature sensor readings
4. To trim the temperature readings, press the Fan "UP" button after pressing the "^" button 4 times
• If your ambient temperature reading is off by more than 20 degrees, consider replacing it. They are very cheap and are identical to the ones used in many vehicles such as various Nissan Sentras, Maximas, Infiniti FX35s, etc. The sensor that I currently have on my G20 is from a 2011 Nissan Sentra.
• If your cabin temperature sensor or evaporator intake air temperature are not showing the correct temperatures, consider replacing them. Incorrect readings from the EIAT can cause various issues with your AC performance.
• After reading the FSM some more, I found a section that discusses "trimming" the AC system (FSM: HA-35). This feature allows you to "trim" the temperature readings to adjust to the driver's preferences. It does not lower or raise the temperature, it simply changes the changes point at which the climate control kicks in.
• If you decide to modify your climate control system to access the Ambient button, be careful not to break any of the components.
• If your AC is stuck on a particular vent or set of vents, consider changing your mode door motor. This is a small black and white motor that is located to the right of the gas pedal.
• If your AC only blows hot air or cold air regardless of your temperature choice, consider changing your blend door motor / air mix door motor. This is a small black and white motor that is located just above the ECM (between the driver and passenger foot wells).
