Forgot to say....I do the back of my head FIRST, then work from the back to the front. This way, you can shove the back hair out of the way to the back of your head as you go, leaving the side and front sections last and totally free to do. It's difficult messing with the back hair if your front is nicely finished, as you keep touching the finished front and side curls. The main trick is NOT to try and put too large size sections in the styler. Hope this helps.

I wish the manufacturer had step by step video. The first few times my elbow length hair got stuck so many times. I was afraid it would pull the hair out of my head. It took several minutes to unsnarl my hair from the barrel. I clearly need my hairstylist to teach me. 😅

Great review! I too can’t curl my hair for the life of me! I have a drawer full of various sized irons, a couple of different style wands and a flat iron, that sit there laughing at me 😂. Is it me or my hair or both? My stylist has no problem, so I’m pretty sure it’s me. I’m so happy to have stumbled across your review. You come across so natural, real and you’re smart, something I find to be rare in some of these video reviews I find here on KZitem (for instance, you actually read the instructions BEFORE using the product you were reviewing on video for the first time, again, something I’ve very rarely seen in other videos I’ve viewe for the same product 🤦♀️). You also don’t appear to be so obsessed w/all things beauty, to the point of ridiculousness, it’s truly refreshing. Your make up and hair are done so beautifully, but not overdone. I’m definitely going to subscribe and I look forward to more videos.

Cindy Lipkint your comment really touched me & made me smile. Thank you for taking the time to read. Important question - what products are you using to style your hair because for the longest time I wasn’t using the correct products. I suggest using a bit of styling spray on each section before curling - it works a lot like hairspray but doesn’t have the buildup. Also, tease at the root before you start styling so you’re already creating some volume. Great teasing brushes on Amazon. And make sure you’re using a hairspray that allows you to run your fingers thru it - flexible hold. Happy curling!

You are supposed to clamp the hair already at the base of the head and then it will suck it up. If u place it at the end of your hair snd move your hand with the wand moving your towards your head it’s tangling it and it’s like going against the grain of your hair. Like taking a pic snd teasing your hair in the upward backwards motion. If you start at the base of your head or in the middle of your hair then when it sucks the hair up it’s taking the curl in in the same motion as if you are brushing it. Which indeed makes your hair not tangled, makes it not get stuck in the curling chamber and makes for a smooth shiny curl as the curling chamber turns and wraps your hair in the circular motion. It’s dangerous to start at the bottom and manually move your arm and the wand back up towards your head. If your hair was twice as long as yours you would have a rats nest and think twice about going from the bottom to the base of the skull verses starting there or in the middle of your hair for more beach waves. Please don’t start at the bottom. Once again you run the risk of tangles, getting your hair stuck and not releasing like it should, as well as burning your hair off, from it getting stuck in the heated chamber for too long.

I would start from the bottom, put the top portion of your hair in a clip then work your way up. That's the great thing about this tool, you just have to grab a small portion of hair to put inside the barrel and it does the work for you. There's no perfect way the hair has to be positioned in the barrel, it sucks up whatever you give it ha! But seriously, it's foolproof and I think would be perfect for someone with short hair.

Mckenna Torix I understand, it took me three straightening irons before I found one I really liked - sometimes products just don’t work out for everyone.

I tried this and ended up returning it. It will not give you that flawless amazing curls and most importantly it heavy and complicated to be used at back. Big not for me.

Jyoti Singh I agree my arm was sore when I was done - way too heavy but I was happy I could finally achieve curls toward the back of my head - always been a challenge for me.

maryoma alkaabi oh no! I tried really hard to get it to burn my hair but it never did. Maybe it’s a texture thing? Is your hair fairly course? Mine is very fine.

Don't worry. I have one and I use it very often. But that my hair gets stuck only happens like 1 or two times a year. Plus when it does happen the curl secret wont even suck it up and it is not gonna curl it. So you can pull your hair out very easily and just try it again. Personally I Love the Curl Secret ;)
