1:24:42 I fucking love the way this iteration of Lex Luthor empathizes with Harley. He doesn't correct her as a typical hero would, playing the usual "moral high ground" card, saying explicitly that she had a faulty mindset or something. He KNOWS how a person like Joker -- a literal abuser -- operates, and he understands both the unhealthy appreciation she has for him AND her place as a victim (especially since she was literally about to be killed by him). He even softly praises her growth too, it's incredibly reassuring to hear him of all popular comic book villains say that. A prior comment went about criticizing Harleen's puppy love's return after the five years since while she was helping Batman. It is fair criticism, but I definitely think that this moment (while it could have been built up better since we only see Harley and Joker again in that one scene where she breaks him out, basically this was partially rushed) does kind of show that Harley's love for this awful man is both genuine and unfortunately misguided (as their history always has been). She finally sees the man she loved who died five years ago come back. I can't speak for her since I can't remember how the comics went nor am I capable of speaking from experience about abuse, but it's kinda clear that Harley missed him and it's only until this point does she realize that he would have always thrown her under the bridge, "her" dead Joker or this one. This Luthor's death, while absolutely critical to the story and Superman's dark turn further growing, was definitely undeserved. Man really was a saint more than his usual counterparts will ever be.

Honestly people only talk about Shazam, but I think Lex Luthor was a lot more important. He was the only friend this Superman had left. Once he went against him Superman felt betrayed and became completely undone, killing him. He lost the little sanity he had left and that was why he did that to Shazam and his own Metropolis. Then also wanted to destroy the other cities and come for other universes. He had completely lost his mind, completing the journey Joker started for him.

@bbsnipo
2 жыл бұрын
@Justin Gary Judging by your statements, you have no idea what evolution is, how evolution works, nor the "point" of evolution. You also don't seem to understand that the Earth is not a closed system, so the limitations of the law of entropy does not apply to evolution. The Earth is an environment that has relatively high amounts of energy for its space because it is near a star and has an atmosphere that absorbs heat and radiation. If you think that everything is God's special intelligently designed creation, I advise you to look up koalas, tarantula hawks, and fiddler crabs. You also don't seem to understand that you can have organs without bones. How is this? Oh right, because NOT ALL ANIMALS HAVE BONES. The same is true for skin. But you don't know this because apparently jellyfish are magic to you. I wonder if you know what an epigenome is. You know, the part of your DNA that is actually actively read and producing a trait? That part that's less than 10% of your DNA? That also affects what type of creature you become. It's part of why identical twins look less identical as they get older. And guess what? Your body doesn't even have a uniform genome! In simpler words, your body doesn't have the same DNA throughout all of its cells. These changes are small and don't happen very often, but they do happen. In fact by the time you become an adult, about 5% of your cells have a different genome than what you started out with (this is why people are more prone to cancer if there is a family history of it). And yes, this can affect your gametes. It also seems that one of the many things you don't seem to understand about evolution is that there is no guiding force for it. Nothing is perfect and that includes reproduction. There are organisms that are both parthenogenic and have sexes. In these organisms those that are parthenogenic tend to have a high chance of getting parasites and viruses while the sexually reproduced organisms have a slightly different mix of genes that make them less susceptible to viruses and parasites. Eventually there is a mess up in the genome that ends up giving an organism either a leg up in its environment or the ability to change its niche. If the flub ends up making it worse for the organism, it dies out quicker (you can agree that birth defects tend to make it harder for people to live, right?). Over time the changes increase and increase until the genomes and characteristics are so different that organisms can't be considered the same kind. This is the theory of evolution. As new traits get added, others can disappear if they don't provide a beneficial function but it's not guaranteed. Evolution is basically Life throwing itself at a wall and seeing what sticks and the wall is the most uneven, debris-covered wall there is. The reason why evolution is so accepted is not because the fossil record is proof of it (whatever fossils we have discovered probably cover 10% of what was actually there), but we can make rather accurate predictions of the fossil record and undiscovered species with that theory's model. You can't really make the same predictions with the scripture. I have no idea what's written in the Bible, Torah, or Quran but your claim of the nation of Israel sounds more like that time was chosen because those of the faith knew what the prophecy foretold and followed it (Priest tells of a time when the temple will be built in the future, then the descendants start building it just before that time because the priest said so, and once it is built they claim it as a miracle of their faith). I believe that there were similar prophecies about the end of the world, and you should look up how many times the Jewish and the Christians predicted the end of the world and got it right. Also, I have to ask: why does everyone have a different story of creation? I mean if all of humanity started out one way you'd think that all creation stories would be similar, but they're not. They have different origins, different driving forces, different reasons for mortality, different moralities, and different sequences of events. The Taoists have the yin and yang as the forces behind creation, the Hindus have the god Brahma splitting himself into trillions of beings because he is lonely when he's awake and the only way to make him sleep again for everyone to remove themselves from the life recycle, and the Christians have the garden story. I believe these religions are less actual stories of creation, but more stories that are guides on how to live for a type of community. What kind of community? The kind of community that they were made for, and for that I do appreciate them. They give insight on what the life of the community the writers were part of were like, which is probably why I've heard that Old Testament God and New Testament God are so different. But they are not made for the current era, where there are questions about our existence and ways of thinking that are not answered nor given a story about.

it's also because during Year 2; the Guardians of the Universe took his green ring at the worst time; while he was high in the air with Carol Ferris (who isn't Star Sapphire in the Injustice Universe), then Sinestro offered Hal a yellow ring saying it was the only way he can save Carol. so he took it, not out of fear for his own life, but for Carol's. that same fear for their love interest was why Flash/Barry was initially with the regime. he says so himself during Deathstroke's chapter while talking with Shazam Flash: I asked myself "what if what happened to Lois, happened to Iris?"

Superman: "I made them safe. Shielded them. But are they grateful? Do they appreciate my protection? No...They whine. Complain. Side with those criminals...If they prefer chaos, I'll give it to them...Metropolis and Gotham. I'll flatten 'em. Set an example." This to me is the moment that Superman truly became no different than the Joker. Sure, he was an evil dictator before this moment. But here you realize he's become an "agent of chaos" like the Joker when he promises to 'give' the people chaos. Also, the Joker ultimately destroyed Metropolis (by tricking Superman) in order to prove a point: that anyone can become like him, anyone can be corrupted, that everyone is just one really bad day away from becoming like him. And here, in this masterful monologue Superman gives, you realize that, like the Joker, he is willing to destroy an entire city just to make a point...he's even willing to kill a child who gets in his way.

I can agree with you on some of the things about Supermans downfall, but after reading the prequel comics, I realized that Joker only came after Clark for one reason: He was tired of always losing to Batman. No matter how hard he tried, Batman always won. He went after Superman because he was far more easy to manipulate. So in a sense, yes, the Joker did turn him into an agent of chaos, but there was several other things that made Superman a full-blown dictator. Superman always stood for truth, justice and freedom, until Joker did him a grave injustice, because of a lie and took away the only other choice. But the biggest blame goes to a certain someone who's name sounds like Wonder Bread.

I saw a comicbook channel talk about it. Which, if that's your first interaction with the mortal world... not defending what she does in the game or the prequel comics, but this backstory sure explains why she's like this.

it feels so good seeing the actual good versions of the heroes coming back, after reading through all the 5 years story in the comics and getting used to the bad versions of them, it just feels right when they show up in the game and save the day as always. it also makes me sad to realize how far they have fallen into darkness... superman looks so lost and the good superman feels like a light shining in front of his bad-self. also, it was nice seeing barry turning against superman, it took too long, but he finally did the right thing. rip billy, he didn't deserve it (it's twisted-funny to think harley tried to save him, but he didn't believe her...). speaking of harley, girl had me disappointed when she got back to the joker, i mean, REALLY HARLEEN? AFTER ALL THIS? i really thought she was past him after 5 years fighting besides batman, but good she got back into her messed-up senses. one minute of silence for green arrow, black cannary, martian manhunter, captain atom, nightwing, huntress, jim gordon, renee montoya...

we have to remember that the game came out before the comic and the harley in the game was like the promoter of the group that supported the joker, unlike in the comic that her interaction with batman and green arrow makes her regret her actions and his growth as a character is observed in injustice 2 where she meets the joker again but his loyalty to batman is greater than his old love for him.

I just read the year 5. The comics are really inconsistent and full of fillers

It really was great to be able to read that entire comic run and now watch it all culminate with this game. Seriously, great stuff. Sure, it had its fillers and long-winded/overdrawn moments, but it just further goes to show you how far the Justice League fell and became the heartless, cruel Regime.
