Just amazing how much you are able to teach people and create with inkscape.

Very nice effect, and the walk through the steps leading up to it is great. The 8- versus 16-bit thing was about the color palette that could be displayed, with 8 bit giving only 256 possible values. Some systems could display more using hardware tricks. The size (in pixels) of the sprites you could make varied a lot between 8-bit systems, but usually the width was in multiples of 4, while heights were all over the place.

Excellent Tuto. I learned a lot ! One question though : is it possible to create a pixel rendering with equilateral triangles instead of squares using the Create Tiled Clones" tool? I cannot manage to make all the triangles stick to each other 🤔 Thanks

Freaking hell, freaking hell, freaking hell... I edited traced images. They were large with complex shapes and those pesky gaps everywhere. I ended up writing a script that would set the color of each path's stroke to its fill color... To learn that all I had to do is just setting it to "undefined"!!! ♥Great big fat thank you! ♥ By any chance, do you know a way to force Inkscape to only use "style" in XML, like style="fill:some-color"? I sometimes get SVGs with fill="some-color" outside the style attribute. Inkscape can see them well but path union operation results in a shape with undefined color. The only ways I managed to find were to use 1) combine paths, 2) object-to-path, 3) set fill color. Any of these three will move fill color into the style attribute. But 1 and 3 are very tedious for files with many colors, 2 can only be used in the very rare cases when a shape is not a path. It's prob a long shot but I decided to ask before writing another script, lol.

Impressive!! I don't have much experience writing scripts in Inkscape. Need to learn the basics, especially if it gives more control over presets and things. Any recommendations on where to look for tips on the fundamentals?

@IronEchoDesign

Thanks! Adjust the number for rows and columns to estimate the coverage needed for the underlying object. Or, you can resize the original clone too. Hope this helps!

This comprehensive tutorial is *Brilliant*, and exactly what I needed, to understand the Pixel Art tab functions in Trace Bitmap! Thank you, @IronEchDesign, for immediately eliciting me to Sub+Like your channel! I really do appreciate, how easy your directions were, to follow! 🫶💪🤓
