I served nineteen consecutive years in the Alabama Department of Corrections (2002-2021). Kilby, Ventress, Fountain, Saint Clair, Bibb County, and ATEF. Yes, those things happen, along with the inmates who smoke Flakka and violently freak out. The guards don’t give a shit, and the parole board is a joke. I tell the youngsters about prison life, but they don’t want to hear it.

This story is interesting to me. When I first heard it my first reaction was it sounds like the racial politics are weak in Alabama because if the kid didn’t have bad charges why didn’t his race protect him? Do y’all not have gangs that protect their respective race?
@m.scottreeder
10 ай бұрын
@@Dmoneyy503 From what I observed in those zoos, there are certain things a prisoner ends up doing where everyone washes their hands of the inmate. One is when an inmate, who came into the system as a straight guy, gets himself mixed up in the crowd with gays. It’s just a matter of time. Another reason is when the inmates gets his ass in debt,; drugs, borrowing, gambling, etc. There are no prison gangs like in the movies. Maybe in other states’ DOC systems, but really not in Alabama. You do have the bloods, crips, gangster disciples, Simon City Royals, etc. But I saw these gangs’ membership based on what city you came from. In other words, an incident kicks off. It won’t be blood vs crip. Instead, it’s like Montgomery vs. Birmingham, or Huntsville vs Mobile. Crazy shit, Man.

@@klotehater To stay out of prison means you have to do right. It takes a blink of an eye for your life to be changed forever. So if Life can change that fast, and that bad, you have to walk the straight line. You have to watch who you hang out with, watch what your chosen crowd does, and decide if they’re worth it. You have to get rid of that mentality that you’ll never get caught, and even if you did, the consequences are minimal. I ended up in prison at age 39, and got out at 57. I never thought I’d end up in the penitentiary, but that’s the point. You have to make the right decisions in Life--that never stops. If you compromise, don’t get mad.

Problem is I had a big ass bag coming with food and hygiene cause I expected much more time. Didn't want that shit to go to waste because some people in my pod were down bad, so talked to the big dog in the block during a chess game before leaving about him passing it out to the folks who were strugglin in the pod (and of course keeping some for himself if he wanted to.) He appreciated that shit a lot and didn't tell anyone until I got my bag and slid it over to him. I left like 2 hours later and in that time had like 9 people pop by my cell and just thank me. It was a cool as feeling. Definitely wouldn't do this with just any pod though. Dangerous as hell, but being locked up so much you get a good feel for how a pod is quick.

Man I was just thinking that. I’m from Mississippi and am probably guilty of any crime this kid committed or more man at least if I get killed in the pen I’ve got a plot my grandparents payed for in my moms home town. Poverty and criminality are malignant broken homes and family systems and kids not having enough opportunities and guidance from people who care about them is the real crime. Heart goes out to the little girl in this situation. If god exists he’s a real piece of work.

This is why it should never be glorified to be a gangster, drug dealer, or an Capone, because all it will do is make you end up becoming someone’s sex slave. I seen some of the dark videos in prison from the dark web out of curiosity which is something that haunts me and now I wish I have never seen those videos.

I had a friend that did a year in Bullock County correctional, (AL). He said he witnessed a guy get raped by 10 dudes one night because of the "candy bar" trick where they leave a bar or maybe a coke on your bed and then come later looking for it. If you cannot produce it, then you owe them 2! If you don't' get it by a certain time limit, they take it out of your ass. Another bad prison here is St. Clair. Lots of inmates get killed in St. Clair. We also have Holman Prison in Atmore. That is death row here. They call it slaughterhouse. It ranks top 10 in the nation for bad prisons.

The Warden & the staff at that prison need to be arrested and charged big time. They allowed the prisoners to take & assault him. They participated in the murder & sexual assault. Covering up the murder should be another charge. He was likely passed out for a long time before they actually took him to the hospital
