It’s nothing new. I remember when I went to get my first MCSE in the late 90’s there were boot camps advertising they could take someone with no experience and make them into a systems engineer earning $80k starting salary after just a few weeks or months of their classes. It caused a flood of people getting certs who had no IT experience and were taking these classes that only taught you how to memorize the cert test answers. Then they’d get on the job and (as expected) struggled and frequently lost their jobs. Then we had the tech bubble burst in early 00’s and these poor souls couldn’t find any work so they went on to something else. Only those that had legit experience were working. After that the tests became much more difficult often using adaptive tests that were less predictable so the cert meant something. Moral of the story is that there are no shortcuts. It’s fine to do these classes if you’re genuinely interested in coding but doing it only to chase a paycheck is a foolish idea.

the problem isn't kids learning coding, its about them trying to show that its obligatory, life changing and all that. I mean if a kid is interested then the parents should let him/her learn to code and he *could* do wonders, but not every kid is same and has same interests. I mean we need doctors in the future but that doesn't mean 6 yrs old will start learning open-heart surgery. IN CASE THEY ARE INTERESTED THEY CAN READ SIMPLE CHILDREN'S BOOKS regarding that, similarly if little kids wanna code they should start from basics .

The concept of teaching coding from such a young age would already be damning to anyone who knows the crazy level of competition to get into engineering in India, with students being pressured to a su**idal point in hundreds of cases. Add to that blatant lies as future.... infuriating.
@animeshdas6866

I'm one of those who was told about IIT-JEE around the end of 8th Std. exams. Life was peaceful before that and then I was introduced to the cut-throat competition for top ranks in that exam. And then, while college didn't give a fuck about my rank after admission, the competition grew insane. Now I see this. I'm happy I didn't end up like the kid shown here. And WhiteHat Jr. seriously needs to consider there are better ways to introduce the idea of coding than a startup that's actually a scam. There are kids being pressured to do well in Olympiads like INMO, INPhO, INChO, IOI, IOL. Then there are students in my university who come in with a pre-meditated interest in their field. And they do well. You can't force your kids to do well. You can't pressure them into doing well in an Olympiad. That interest has to come of their own. CodeChef is doing a better job of encouraging school kids without such outrageous claims as WhiteHat Jr. is making.

Only problem is school as being school pay too much attention to 1-2 subjects and it quickly becomes competition machine. There's not even anything told about actual ways to earn money like stocks, investments, Savings. You learnt that all by your own. (Edit: Didn't read your full comment. I think youtube get alot of revenue from whitehat jr ads as in india you see a whitehat jr ad everyday. In TV's, YT video ads and some other websites you can find a whitehat junior popup and video ads. I too took a trial class and thought, 'hey this is nice' as I learnt to code a simple app. But the fees are THROUGH THE FRIGGIN ROOF. I bought a byju tab (a product from the same company that owns whitehat jr). Which was infact, more expensive that my school admission fees. They promise that your kids will become geniuses and things like that. During byju's early release it also had a huge advertisement campaign. I think as youtube gets alot of revenue from the company it restricts the algorithm so that no criticism may get recommended.

This is nothing short of the Byju's game, selling animated videos with almost the same syllabus as the normal school, at an accelerated pace to make it seem superior, and a little bit of spicing it up with small info from higher class. My son had a trial with them and tbh he just couldn’t understand the tutor’s accent and I had to stay with him all the way through translating. For that reason I didn’t think it was worth it but they pressured and used all sorts of tactics including giving him a ‘scholarship’. Glad I stood my ground.
