This is still by far the best air show manevuer I've ever seen! It is rare when the RAPTOR gets permission to chuck flares while doing this... adds a layer of wow for sure. It's legit blowing my mind how this is even physically possible. The amount of thrust to go into a roll, but practically stopping at peak to the point the flares are passing the jet, while coming back to being on plane, in what? 250ft? Probably more like 750ft but it looks like it's within 500ft of elevation with ease.... The amount of flaps or direction of propulsion OR BOTH AT THE SAME TIME that would take.... Sweet Baby Jesus. With that said, I have zero days of fighter jet knowledge. Lol.

Actually the F-22 and F35 both are artificial intelligence assisted aircraft the computer does most the flying and calculates everything with minimal input from the pilots. They still fly the plane but it's more of a series of inputs. Think of it as like doing a special move on mortal kombat down forward punch for a move they do similar on the joy stick to the side of them to do certain things all while the plane processor calculates everything going on million times a second to adjust everything on its surfaces. It's Actually Hella awesome how they work. SMART plane on a whole other level 😆

@aviation-action FYI it's actually not a Kulbit Maneuver since kulbit is just a tight radius loop that doesn't involve thrust vectoring. The F22's loop is essentially a "flip" which uses its thrust vectoring nozzles to do a flip, the USAF calls this the "Mongo Flip" and is a maneuver exclusive for the raptor. There are other special maneuvers developed for the raptor too, such as a variation of the cobra where instead of 90 degrees, the raptor uses its vectored thrust to go 140 degrees vertical and back. It's very interesting and absolutely wonderful to see.

Was built with a different kind of air superiority from what we think now wasnt it? To out perform any comers in a dog fight. F35 is definitely better to mass produce as an all around fighter now that we’re sure dogfights are (probably) in the past and that kinda sucks I guess.

Supposedly the F-22 manoeuvrability is so highly classified they even have to limit information from the pilots of what the plane can truly do.

Uh, no. Pilots are fully aware of the full capabilities of their respective aircraft. Their squadron weapons & tactics officer makes sure this is so.

Jets have been limited by the limits of the human body for decades. All that low speed cornering you need thrust vectoring for is useless anyway for the F22 as you'd never want to be caught in a dogfight in it. It's way too expensive and meant for BVR, not getting in close.

Seeing one of these fly around and do tricks for the first time a few years ago at an air show had me holding back tears in sheer amazement. It was like seeing something from an alien planet. Absolutely life changing and incredible. Words can’t even describe it. My mouth was agape and I couldn’t stop smiling, all while I felt my eyes get watery. I held it in because I was embarrassed lol but the feeling was overwhelming. So cool. Now I’m obsessed with them lol.
