Bonkers. The reason we don't "embed" outlets into the drywall compound itself is so that when we push plugs in or pull plugs out we don't have to worry about cracking/breaking the drywall around the plug. Whoever invented this just has no idea.
@demontekdigital1704

Trust me, the inventor has an idea. They're laughing on the way to the bank because these are clearly made for people with more money than sense, lol. For the price of just one of those duplexes you can do an entire bedroom with top of the line outlets, and switches.

You're right about not embedding outlets in drywall compound, but this one was screwed into an existing box, relieving the stress. However, while the outlet might not pull out I'll bet it will crack and flake off around it over time. You make a good point.

I have installed this type of outlet before. It was for a music artist with a high end home. I installed the double outlet type style, and was actually installed in the kitchen where there was backsplash. So not only did I have a tough time installing these, because the depth had to be perfect, but the tile guys had it even worse cutting out the holes in the backsplash tile where the outlets were gonna go, had to be so precise. They costed about $750 each since they were color matched with the tile. Looked nice and minimalist for sure, but not worth it for the average consumer. Also, I have lost that special tool that is needed to remove them, lol.

Thanks for the great video introducing this system. But I guess after all my questions is why would I need this... Considering home usage, the wall plate itself is for service convenience (cheap and fast to replace) and also importantly, to prevent plugs scratching the wall during regular plugging and unplugging. But worst of it is, it does not look good at all, at least to me. I might be trained to adapt to the common squarely wall plates, but I really don't feel such a weird "textured" round patch on the wall looks good. It looks worse than normal wall plates. I imagine it might be great for some business environment, but I can hardly imagine it will be widely accepted by most homes.

I can't believe that's a code accepted installation. If there a splices behind the device, how are you going to service an issue. Not through a single receptacle sized opening that requires a specialty tool. As an electrician I'd say, 'forget it' if I were called on a service call. OR...my hammer could solve the accessibility problem. What a joke!

@FHL-Devils

Someone else mentioned using it in marble/granite, and it is definitely less visibly intrusive than a standard duplex + plate combo in the RIGHT scenario... like a high end kitchen that needs an occasional appliance like a breadmaker or plate-warmer and don't want a larger outlet breaking up the visual. So I understand the extremely limited applications where this could be useful, and therefore the associated premium cost of it.

This has got to be one of the stupidest products I have ever seen. For the price, it looks like some kind of bad kludge, or construction mistake. As a bonus insult, it's not even a high quality outlet, which it should be for costing 34 times any other quality outlet, AND the special tool is not included. I mean, it might look a bit better if it was color matched, to the wall, but come on. It's all cons, with no pros. It's more expensive, harder to install, harder to maintain, less functional, and lower quality. This seems to be yet another "Luxury" product where the only thing "Luxury"about it is the price. It's for rich morons who automatically assume that if it costs more, it's better, or even worse, for conspicuous consumption. As in, for people who spend lots of money purely for showing they have lots of money. It's awful. It's almost but not quite as bad as audiophile scam equipment. I've been thinking about this , and for the price point, it ought to be an outlet that can retract completely into the wall, and only reveal itself at remote command. Or, a specific patch on the wall that is magnetic, and has a special outlet that latches on, so it can deliver power wirelessly. That would be way cooler.

This has to be the most absurd thing I've ever seen in my 67 years of living. Some things like this are just dumb. Even if it cost $5 I would never use this. Just to start with, it's not attractive. I could change outlets in several rooms of my house using standard outlets, in the time it takes to install one of these. No way would I go to the effort. Only on a new build do I see these being practical to install but then the cost is absurd. I see this as a huge fail by the manufacturer. But thanks for showing it. Sorry you had to go to all that trouble. I didn't come close to guessing the price. The best product was the WAGOS!

If there was any real demand, counterfeits will show up from China at 1/10 the cost and still make a huge profit on it. Plastic goods cost pennies on the dollar, making the mold is where the cost is, such as car fender molds etc.

This design is just stupid. One of the reasons we use face plates for outlets is because they protect the wall. Any damage to the face plate can be remedied in minutes by simply swapping it out. Whereas here, one careless slip of the hand while plugging something into the socket and you need to repair the wall itself.
