(Jed, not Kristen) Very cool!... little 375 action, eh? Gonna have to look into that. Actually, I NEED a Jack Beale 661!!! That other new vid is incredible. That pondo looked a bit decayed, but still.... that saw just COOKED through it.

Not bad, agreed the grind angle is a tad off for the frozen fur, still a decent cut for the wrong grind angle.

It's technically a 372xpw. The factory made a few of the 375xp stickers ending about 8 years ago. I have a few, and for my buddy Dave over in Ireland, used one on his new saw. As a side note, I have a 372xpw with some work done done to it - pre-emmissions hd6 carb - that is new. If your serious, shoot me an email. Thanks.

Those Rakers are a little aggressive!
@hotsaws101
3 жыл бұрын
Ryan hi. That is a Coasty grind chain. I purposefully wanted to give this saw a run for it's money. The only way to really tax it was to put an overly aggressive chain on it. So no, the stops are fine. I run mine down low with all chains in every condition. In reality it is that the angles on the teeth are not set up correctly for these conditions - high elevation, wind pounded, inland growing conditions, frozen wood. Could of sore that I addressed this thought in the comments already. Thanks for watching.

What's your thoughts on porting stihl ms362c ?
@hotsaws101

My thought is that it will run much better once a zipkit is installed. Just like the 562xp, ms461, ps7900/7910, etc. etc. do. Thanks for watching.

Luc G'day > The "coasty grind" comment has seemed to garner a fair amount of commentary. The "my grind" is generic and all inclusive. I.E., inland grind, High elevation piss fir grind, etc., etc. all are broad statements. Here is, in a nut shell, what is included and all are a consideration; angle of the top plate, angle of the inside top plate perpendicular the rails, side plate angle, inside side plate angle perpendicular to the line of the bar, gullets, length of the tooth (different chain manufacturers) and whether it's heeled - or not, raker, stops, riders, (variations of the same item) depth - or height depending on who is referencing them, and raker, rider, stop width. The coasty grind works pretty good getting through the sinew (as I like to call it) like bark of the redwood while still doing alright in fir, alder, spruce, misc. hardwoods, an occasional hemlock that you find that far south. I can get a chain to cut better in the non reds but then there is a loss in the redwood. So the coasty grind is multi purpose grind for many different tree species/barks. If I relax the angles mention above to, let us say, an inland grind, make sure the gullets are in check, heel the tooth if necessary, then the chain will deal better with wood in this area/elevation that is more hard (generally but not always) than coastal wood and also partially/fully frozen. Conversely, getting through certain redwood bark with a inland chain is interesting as well. The stops, riders, rakers are set to the different grind angles but from my experience, are not that different in elevation. Case point, I want the chain to still feed in the inland conditions. You will get a little more "chatter" just because the wood is a higher density by default. But, you don't have to push on the handles. I purposefully run my chain tight - for a specific reason. In this vid, we are running the last of the summer weight bar oil, which was not the best idea...... It is a tad bit thick at this temperature and was not doing as good a job as it's winter weight counterpart. So I used a generic reference about my particular chain here in this video. We were, after all, just trying to have a little PHUN on a pretty cool day, wallowing in the snow. Thanks, for watching.

Ok so it's the summer oil! 😂 Well from What I understand to be well equipped to harvest trees it is suitable to have a few chainsaw and4 times the amount of chain. and for sure that is on a Nice day . Thanks for the beautiful info.😆

This was an on location test drive, not, for me anyway, a full on mini-timber felling operation. It is the first try with a coasty chain on wood in this area. It takes a few days of testing to get your chains completely dialed in. Did not think I blamed the oil.....
