I've been going to the French River for over 50 years. I've seen 50+ lb'ers near 60" Snapping lines, broken nets, even Lures themselves snapping. I've landed 45" Northerns and blah blah blah. No video but for old film, video tape or pictures. But NOW you guys WEIGH YOUR FREAKIN' CATCH ONLINE!!!

Hey David, thanks for watching! Gonna have to go against your wishes there, way to much stress on a fish to get a weight, with length and girth you can get a proper estimation of weight, no need to be putting the fish under unnecessary pressure, especially in the summer!

I finally recognized the elephant's back rock in the Voyageur's Channel ;-) I used to guide up there. I worked at Kamp Kaintuck, French River Lodge, Hartley Bay House, and the now-defunct Bad River Lodge. I'm sure you've seen the musky at Bears Den courtesy of Mr. Ryder? Because he was a small man and apparently only fished musky, he had Geisler Boats make him a custom cedarstrip with shallow gunnels so he could roll the musky into the boat rather than lifting it. Do you go down to the Bad River or stay up top? There are some great places below the rapids.

Hahaha good eyes, such an awesome spot, great scenery and some juicy fishing areas! The cabin we stay at is about a 40 minute trek from down there so we dont get to make the journey as much as we would like to! I can imagine there are countless amazing musky spots around there!

@@backlashangling I know the place. I think Jim and Ginny Rook lived there, or next door. Ginny became the Mayor of Killarney a few years ago. She may still be. A local native I worked with took me night fishing for musky. The sun had just set as we pulled into a small bay off the main French River west of the French RIver Lodge he grabbed a paddle and smacked the water. Ten seconds later he smacked the water again. He whispered, "Listen. Don't move.". Ten seconds later we were startled by a loud splash maybe 20M from the boat as a musky jumped out of the water to mark it's territory. We cast lines but without success. Moments that last a lifetime. Cheers.

@@stephenf3952 I know / knew Tinnerman's Canoe Club well. Part of the Boy Scouts of America (Cleveland). It was busy during the 70s but usage dropped during the 80s and by the 90s it was almost never used. What are your plans for the place?
