Hi Theo Nice trip. Can you tell me what the difference is between agatized wood and petrified wood. Love to see any projects you want to make out of your finds.
@TheoKellison
4 жыл бұрын
So in short, petrified wood is wood that has mineralized over millions of years, much like a fossil. Whereas agatized wood is petrified wood that has been replaced with agate, quartz, or chalcedony, leaving behind the original wood grain and texture, but often making the wood translucent and MUCH harder. It makes for some absolutely stunning specimens and cabochons 😊 I hope that answers your question, and thank you so much for watching!

It's shocking how often youtube comment's version of "constructive" is just saying "do better" 😂 i actually do not have this camera anymore; it got the job done but it had no image stabilization which made for some very shaky footage, paired with a tiny depth of field and you get some iffy video. Not to be too much of a buzz kill, seems like you should take some of the second tier petrified wood and drop it back in the river. That stuff takes so long to form and show up, for two people to grab so much seems a bit greedy. Maybe try cleaning it better on site and taking your top five back home and scattering the rest

Hey Theo! Have you ever tried to make the tops of a cane or longer walking sticks cared out of wood and petrified wood? I bet you would be able to make some money making them. There are so many people that take long walking sticks with them hiking just to help your balance and canes like they used to make back in the day, kind of like the jurassic park movie, where the old man walks around with his carved out amber cane. They may not need to carry a cane but there are collectors that would love one or the other.
