You did a great tour of that place . It looks like a beautiful living space, but after you explained the issues inside, I would pass, and say no .. If I am spending a certain amount of money to rent a place, I would expect the place to be cleaned at least once a week .

Great video Joe! You're paying more or less for the scenery and prestigious environment/ambiance of this 'Dream Villa Estate'. Hygiene is something their management needs to enforce regularly. What about the quality of their utilities (e.g. Water and electricity)? Are their frequent outages of this?

Power and water were fine. The issue was the cleanliness.

Nice home, decent neighborhood. I think GoBlack stayed there too and mentioned the bugs....could have been another estate though If I'm being picky I'd say it looks too Western. I want sidewalks, greenery etc but would like more African architecture used. Thanks for showing us! As far as the video itself it is nicely edited with clear timestamps and good flow

Could be. Either way. Was not great. I handled it though. Killed the ones in the room and got them to clean up

Dude, it is very expensive. The average Sierra Leone person get paid $20-30 dollars a month. You are coming from abroad that’s why you think $70 is small. If I pay $70 a day for a hotel room in Freetown, I would have a very high expectation. Accommodation in Freetown is super expensive. The best way to survive in Freetown long time is to buy a piece of land in Hastings or outside of the city and build your own place. With $70 you can buy bundles of pan body sheets and build a temporary place to be sleeping whilst you build.

Int expectations will be high if I pay $70 a day for a hotel room in Freetown. Dude, the average Sierra Leonian receives $20 to 30 a month for a good job. True talk, my mother and 20 people feeds on $100 a month. I recently add a bag of rice to the $100.

In tropical Africa, why are these places so barren and devoid of any greenery? Palm and other plants will grow easily around there. Trees lower temperatures , filter the air that we breathe and enhance the looks as well! I wont stay there for less, not my cup of tea.

Curious when people will evolve from the basic, outdated, unimpressive decor styles. Have yet to see a super modern place in Sierra Leone. I mean if they don’t want to get an interior designer, Pinterest is free. Plus who do they think will want to stay in such a dirty place? Unfortunately this is a no for me. Wouldn’t stay for free.

I agree with a lot of what you said but the issue is what is availble. Importing is pretty expensive so I think that is why.

The buildings are acceptable and comparable to buildings in places of equivalent economic development, what is missing though is the beautification of the structures and environment, the embroidery if you like .

@@AuthenticAfrican Agree 100% about how expensive materials are, but instead of building massive structures with no style they could do design smaller, more inviting spaces. That might lower their costs a bit and source pieces for decor that are local and will also help support the local economy.
