Stepping inside the Cosentino City Melbourne showroom, there is an immediate sense of refinement, creativity and collaboration. Providing amenities for the thriving creative design community in Melbourne, the showroom aims to act as a hub for the design industry in Australia.
Located in an old bank building in Melbourne, Cosentino City Melbourne enhances the building’s beautiful features such as the high ceilings and the grandeur of the space. Meanwhile, divided areas within allow a sense of compression and decompression as you move through the space. “We determined that Melbourne is the hub of architecture and design in Australia and our aim was to bring the front of the design into this market,” notes Itay Shimony, vice president of the Oceania branch at Cosentino.
“We wanted the space to be functional and allow our clients to engage with their clients,” says Shimony. “The space was designed to house multiple groups and host different events, client visits and meetings; we wanted people to see it as their second office.” In this sense, the showroom isn’t just about the Cosentino product - surfaces and building materials - it’s an additional space where architects, designers and builders can come to work and feel inspired.
“The thought process behind the application and display of our products was really well considered,” says Antonia Anderson, showroom manager at Cosentino City Melbourne. “Being a showroom, we want to maximise the exposure and supply of our products, so we used our products, in particular Dekton, in many settings around the showroom; on the walls, on the floors, and we have full bathroom displays demonstrating our shower trays and wash basins.” These applications give clients a clear idea of what Cosentino supplies and the endless possibilities that clients have with the product and their projects.
Enriched by a palette demonstrating Cosentino’s full spectrum of colours and creating a beautiful atmosphere for clients, the experience of Cosentino City Melbourne showroom is one that feels easy, calm and relaxed. “In the main area of the showroom we have used light, calm, neutral colours,” notes Anderson. “Then as we move deeper into the showroom towards the back where the meeting rooms are, we have introduced a more dark, moody colour palette and have used bolder veins and stronger colours.”
Also integral to Cosentino City Melbourne is the idea of interaction. “We have installed what we call a ‘digital slab’ in our reception, which is basically a very large screen that allows us to scroll through the entire collection of construction stone in Australia,” she says.
The new showroom effortlessly encapsulates the Cosentino DNA. “There's an underlying feel and tone that runs through all our city centres around the world, and when we combine that feeling with the style of Melbourne, we have created a beautiful showroom that is a standout in the design world,” reflects Anderson.
