I took my 14yr old and his friend, and I was so glad. It made conversation possible and relatable. As you said, they nailed it.

yes they have.. anxiety is a disorder. anxiety attacks are caused by the anxiety disorder, (which you have to be diagnosed to have) and from what we know riley doesn't have the anxiety disorder. so in conclusion it's not an anxiety attack, it's a panic attack.

@@bearlovesmelanie I’m not talking about Riley and I know the difference. I have them so I know what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the fact that he said almost every adult has had a panic attack when that’s not true at all. Btw anyone can have panic or anxiety attacks even if it isn’t diagnosed. Ofc, if you do have one, you most likely do. Also anxiety attacks aren’t quite as bad as panic attacks.

I immediately recognized the grounding technique that I learned in therapy, as someone suffering from anxiety disorder. Pixar really REALLY did their research.

Bree and Grace are such good friends to Riley after how she treated them for some of the movie, had she not helped Grace out when she was laughed at when she tried to open the jar of pennies and Riley or Bree didn't, they wouldn't have been sympathetic towards her. I loved this sequel 100%

Another reason this scene hit me so hard is not just the anxiety stuff but how the core five emotions actually get back to HQ. How do they do it? By riding a literal avalanche of thoughts. And as they get back to the main area, those hundreds, if not millions of thoughts, take hold. They race up to HQ until they get stuck. It's only when Joy lets them through to become part of everything that things even out. As someone who has anxiety issues, i can relate so much with both attacks and racing thoughts. It all feels like way too much to handle sometimes. I really need to learn the grounding technique.

it's kinda of infuriating that they actually did such a good jog depicting an ANXIETY ATTACK and grounding techniques, and then to hear the reviews jump from anxiety attack to panic attack as if they're the same thing. let's make a movie to teach people what an anxiety attack is... 3 doritos later, this and other reviews

I'm actually genuinely curious. What is the difference? I've had one of the 2 but I'm not sure how to categorize it. I think that an anxiety attack is when someone feels worried, distressed, or scared in a crippling way, that could be an anxiety attack. But a panic attack is intensely distressed coupled with fast breathing and a rapid heart beat along with other things.

@@millymitch8842 I've had both. The symptoms are intertwined. An anxiety attack is usually less severe, there's none to a mild increase of heart rate, and it's a spiral of worrying thoughts. Meanwhile, panic attacks are often close to what's shown in the movie. Electric numb feelings in your hands, feeling like you can't breathe in enough air, though the biggest difference between the two is that in a panic attack you get a feeling of impending doom / death.

I have to be honest .. I wasn't the biggest fan of the first Inside Out. And when I took my daughter to see part 2, I drifted in and out of paying attention as I just didn't find it anywhere near as engaging as other Pixar movies... especially the ones from years ago. The last great Pixar movie was Incredibles 2. But the penalty box scene was so good it felt like it didn't even belong in this movie. Gripping stuff and masterful filmmaking and caught me so much by surprise that my opinion of the whole movie changed to positive by the time it was over.
