When the tube first began 150 years ago, it was built by a number of different companies. This resulted in some stations being built very close together by the different companies. Eventually, it all came together as London Transport in the 1930s. Some of the surplus stations were closed as they were not required.

When I was a child my Father had to go down there and carry out some electrical work. He said he was on the platform and saw a man in a bowler hat out of the corner of his eye. He turned around to shout 'What are you doing here' but the man had disappeared. He mentioned it to the Underground staff who said The Man was a well-known Ghost who was always seen waiting for a train that never came!

there used to be a tunnel from the widened lines north of Farringdon for access to the King's Cross lines (and extra tunnel capacity at Gasworks too) but this has all been radically remodelled for the new overground services.

There are ways to access the tunnels without having to go through the front doors. Believe me, I used to know a group of urban explorers who did this all the time for fun and they kept on telling me that they once found a rusty old steam train in there with graffiti all over it!

Well, isn't digging tunnels under Rome a bit of a problem with all the ancient history of Rome? Under Rome there's a whole world to be discovered by the archaeologists. I understand some of the sewer systems the Romans constructed still are largely intact. This means that a lot of "historically significant" places need to be bypassed. In other words difficult. Also, isn't Italy a country that very much likes cars and motorcycles? Mass transport probably isn't very popular.

It won’t work as it is much too close to Whitechapel and Aldgate East. The reason it closed was because when Aldgate East was moved to it’s current location, St Mary’s entrances was too close to it’s new entrances so it closed.

"How many dead bodies IS there?" That's ARE. "lives in this tunnels" That's THESE. Who's joking I wonder? And you're either a paranoid or a troll thinking he/she is funny. You don't master basic English that's for certain. So two option: 1. You're serious in which case you're either paranoid or a plain fool. 2. You're not serious and you're just a troll littering on the net. Let's hope it's not the latter.
