How come she cut the interview when finally the iraqui guy mentioned oil issue?

I am so conflicted about this. On one hand, I find it impossible to say with any sense of morality to say that Iraq was "better off" under Saddam. He enacted a genocide that killed upwards of 50,000 Kurdish, killed another 150,000 Shia during a revolt in 1991, and he regularly killed, tortured, and imprisoned anyone he felt may have been critical of his rule. The guest even said that they had no freedom On the other, the civil was that followed was nothing less than hell on earth for the iraqi people and the numbers attest to this. However I believe the biggest problem was American Ignorance and incompetence in the White House. Making many decisions by a small group in washington, not in Iraq to dissolve the Baath party and the military.... Decisions were made by officials and soldiers who had no understanding of the sectarian divide and didnt speak the language and were trained for war, not policing the streets...Not to mention being completely unprepared for the humanitarian resource effort directly following saddam..... The main reason the violence got started in the first place..... people were starving...... It's hard to reason with people when they are desperate to survive.

It's called choosing the lesser of two evils. No one likes it, but the world isn't all sunshine and rainbows. As an American I think our leaders should be held accountable for tricking us into a war that ended up raising trillions of dollars for the VPs own company! Cheney for prison 2016

The USA occupied Iraq just for Oil (profit). Human rights were never a reason for this war. The government has cheated its own citizen. Unfortunately most of the American people are uneducated. They even vote a second time for this big idiot of Bush Jr.

The biggest asset to Afghanistan is it's location. The plans for afghanistan lies in the strategic position that it shares with the caspian sea oil producing countries, like Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Russia. There are currently no direct pipelines from the caspian sea to the Indian subcontinent, guess which country is between them.

why are some people so delusional? What is better, order or chaos? The present state of Iraq is chaotic, there is a power vacuum that needs to be filled. Iraq, if left alone without any foreign intervention, will within a matter of years fall back into another dictatorship. What was really achieved with Saddam's death anyway, democracy or chaos?

vast number of american who feel you one the war are slightly naive. the second point that is of great concern is how you feel you should not be blamed for destroying a national identity history and culture. Further more Iraq will never recover after your pillaging. but then again ignorance has always been bliss.

Now let's see what US lost, (I will not include casualties, because for policy makers human lives are not relevant). That Iran grew to a new potential threat than ever, Iraq was power that kept Iran in check, but Iran took the power vacuum that Iraq left, now USA will face more decades of an stronger Iran. The rise of militant islam in Iraq and in the Middle East. Eg. Syria. The economic gains in Iraq have not been as fast as their big corporations would have wanted.

There was very little Sunni Shia violence whlile Saddam was in power because, Saddam tamped that down. The US by it's greed and imcompetence brouaght Al Qaeda to Iraq and ushered in sectarian violence. Many Iraqis will argue that it was better under Saddam than after the Americans invaded, and had to be asked to leave.

Iraq, from being a regional power, is now a country that can only foresee trouble in the near future, not far from now we will see a kurdish nation declared and more violence will erupt from that. A unified Iraq would have been stronger, but nationalism was indoctrinated in kurds for foreign powers to exploit it, to a point of no return. For the US, the invasion was partially a success, but there is no way for Iraqis to say that the invasion helped the in any way.

We didn't start the war on and in Iraq due to race religion or towels.. The war started because Iraq invaded our friend Kuwait to steel there resources. The war on Iraq started back in 1991, before 911 even happened. Afghanistan started because 911 not Iraq. (FYI)

To make a list of what Iraq won and lost is laughable, they got rid out of hussein, but compared to everything that Iraq has lost, there is no point of comparison. Thousands dead, militant islam raging, secessionist movements, lack of infrastructure, economic stagnation in the occupation decade, refugees, brain drain, poor medical infrastructure and we can continue all day mentioning all the problems in Iraq.

The affect being that we allowed Islamic extremists to gain a foothold in a country where there previously were none. While their actions are their own, we do take a responsibility in that. Just like how we take a responsibility to what is happening in Libya for doing the every same thing with by bombing the country. And with that time to use the golden rule as ask you, how exactly would you feel if any of that happened to us?

Violence will come, not because of the Kurds, but because Turkey, Iraq, Syria and Iran will not accept that new nation. I wonder how the US will resolve this, their biggest ally in the ME is Turkey, but also USA helped to build that Kurdish nation, Well they will find that it wasn't that simple to play the empire game in the ME. As the phrase goes "They realeased the tiger, but now they will have to mount it"

There's nothing cool nor hip about his point of view, the only spin in that regard is your perception of it. His view simply falls under the golden rule, "do unto others as you would have them do to you". I don't know how you even drew that conclusion however your warped sense of reality should be disturbing. Also reading your other statement, yes we are responsible, indirectly. By destroying Iraq's infrastructure for personal & ambitious reasons we created a domino effect. -
