Fun book...I liked Robbins writing on Batman better than his art but his Johnny Hazard Newspaper Strip was great. He had a nice Milt Caniff style. Vince Collettsa inks didnt help this book either but I love all the 70's Marvel books.

Hi Pete, I always liked The Invaders book however Frank Robbins art was always strange to look at. However it seemed to suit The Invaders though Robbins on other titles such as Cap's solo title wasn't great. I have The Invaders Omnibus which contains the whole run plus a Fantastic Four story where go back in time and they meet The Invaders. This was a precursor to the "What If?..." Comic book.

His art ain’t good but inking by Frank Springer made it worse!

I agree. The Colletta inks in this issue actually elevate the art overall.

@@ScottBerry-yn8rw I've never understood all the hate Vince Colletta got. I've always liked his style, even if it was a bit crude sometimes!

I loved The Invaders when I was a kid and recently got hold of a TPB entitled “Invaders Classic” which collects the first dozen issues. The art is pretty crude, but the overall result is a title of great charm. Highlight for me was the introduction of Union Jack and my first ever glimpse of Stan Lee’s first creation The Destroyer.

Frank Robbins would do the strange angles with the arms and legs on purpose to confuse a little. I'm not sure but i think Frank Robbins is not interested in doing a series of pretty pictures, no not that. I think Frank Robbins is trying to use artist paint to come out of the comic book and hit you right between the eyes. He wants undevided attention He is on that level..

A little silly trivia; here in south america we knew Tonto (the Lone Ranger's sidekick) as "Toro", because the word "tonto" actually means "fool" in our language
