A lot of swamp maroon communities to place in all of the deep South from Alabama, Georgia, The Carolinas, and Louisiana to name a few. The Dismal swamp is actually a rare example in the northern U.S. were swamp maroon communities formed, but it's arguable the most famous besides the great "Negro Fort" in Florida.
