if these hotels arrive all around the world they should put robots greeting you in front door and that finger scanning thing to open the door and robots to help you in your bedroom like that one with the guy and have people cook, clean and maybe they should have some people playing music so everything dosnt feel lonely

TheGamingLizard yeah. I like some of the robots haha. Some of them are cute, but there still needs to be people to make it work. I really like that Dino one tho! Haha. Idk why. Dino's aren't supposed to be cute, but I like it. It has some sort of personality (even though I know it literally doesn't lol). And if you want to call me a weeaboo, I give up, go ahead and do it, if that's what makes you sleep at night. But I can assure you, that I'm not one, I'm not gonna start giving proof because that will make me look like an actual weeaboo, but I'm not one.

***** Hahahahaha, what the fuck does having an anime profile picture have to do with me? If a profile picture meant shit, then people without them don't exist. And I have lived in Japan, and I'm japanese descendent. My grandfather escaped Japan in WWII weeks before Hiroshima, which was there where his entire family died. Weeaboos are completely different from what your view of weeaboo is. Weeaboos are completely dumb and ignorant people that think that anime is the biggest part of japanese culture ( They don't even know what the fuck happened in the last a thousand years ) and they think that by knowing 3 words that they learned in a shitty anime they are qualified to go to Japan and live there. They pick random words they see on the internet and post on their facebook profiles to look cool, and they lie to themselves about who they really are. They think that the term "otaku" isn't an offense and just the name of the group they are in, while in reality otakus are people with social problems and they are ruining japanese society. You have literally no idea who I am and I could write a lot of walls of texts, and it looks like you're asking for it. First thing you gotta do is find out what a weeaboo really is and then come with me to make fun of them because we aren't stupid. And oh, I've lived in Japan for 6 months with my aunt, I lived in Ebisu, Shibuya, it's a great country even if I didn't speak any japanese back then.

***** I have a surprise for you then. Don't take my word, check it out - science has long proven that we do not think for ourselves, i.e. we literally do not make decisions. The decision (any decision!) happens in our brain independently of us about 5-6 seconds before we become aware of it and start thinking as if we have taken a decision. This has been already seen and measured with lab equipment in many independent cases all around the world. And even synthetic life form if developed enough, can acquire independent thinking. So I really don't see much difference between us and machines.

Having to work to earn money that you use to live is a way to force you to work. This is useful in a society where we need human labor to produce food, clothing, services and so on. But if robots can take on human jobs (which means that no human labor is needed to produce xxx service) then forcing human to work is useless. Then what's the point in keeping a system where we have to work to earn money ? Of course money would still be needed because we don't have an infinite amount of ressource on earth so we need to put some kind of limits here. But we could just give money "to each according to his needs" (considering that some people have more needs because disease and disability), no matter how much labor they do or how much they produce.

Why would a robot be a copycat? It could look at the environment, and a multitude of other artworks, in different genres, mix and match, and then add randomness. Isn't that what we do? Who says that art is not something "calculated." Obviously it is not like 1 plus 1 equals Van Gogh but Van Gogh too looked at looked at other artworks, the sky, his palette, and did some image processing in order to come up with starry night. But then again; the characteristic swirls in Starry night and in the background of his last self portraits is something that a computer would find difficult to innovate. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Starry_Night Van Gogh himself felt that the swirls were a failure "When Gauguin was in Arles, I once or twice allowed myself to be led astray into abstraction, as you know. . . . But that was delusion, dear friend, and one soon comes up against a brick wall. . . . And yet, once again I allowed myself to be led astray into reaching for stars that are too big-another failure-and I have had my fill of that."[29] Van Gogh here is referring to the expressionistic swirls which dominate the upper center portion of The Starry Night.[30] But also that he thought that the attempt was valid. "I know very well that the studies drawn with long, sinuous lines [the swirls?] from the last consignment weren't what they ought to become, however I dare urge you to believe that in landscapes one will continue to mass things by means of a drawing style that seeks to express the entanglement of the masses." A computer could be fed non pictorial information such as Van Gogh's letters. It could also produce a lot more work which then humans could judge and accept or reject. I think that computer generated art.... I was going to say "will soon be here" but then I though durr, it surely is, and it is. www.povray.org/ electricsheep.org/

Human beings are good at one thing. Taking things way to far. Machines were originally designed to help people do things that are too much for them to do alone, not replace them all together. People are going hungry all over the world. Is the solution to just replace them with something that never eats, sleeps, gets sick or needs time off. Never have to pay them either. Big business is going to exterminate their own livelihood to put more money in their own pockets and many people seem to be perfectly fine with this.
@topheftyr533

the fact that at one point robots will replace human labor is inavetable at that time we reach a fork in your historical road : either we create a system of shared luxury for all or we create a system of technologically enforced oligarchy where a small elite lives in extreme luxury and the vast majority of the population suffers as they are unable to compete with a robot that surpasses human productivity by a factor of 100 at the fraction of the cost of 1 worker simplpy put, the monetary model was not designed to tackle with this challenge and the only solution is to abandon it to design a new model in it's place that is democratic above all else

The Other Point Of View here's the problem by sayng this will follow the past trend of automation from the previous industrial revolutions :A.I. has not happened before for example one of many A.I. projects is a massive 100 b$ project that aims to create an A.I. oof an IQ of 10.000 , in other words you would be a housecat to it However you don't need super intelligence ,all you need is a smart enough A.I. to replace highly trained specialists and get superior results even some specialties of doctors are in the red so how would jobs be retained when maschines can replace both menial labor ,and mental labor ? even if the price of goods and resources fall vertically you still will have to deal with the fact that a price of 1$ would be 1$ too much for most of the population if most of the population cannot work under a capitalist system so how will you get the materials needed ? how will you pay for nessecary services such as medical procedures ? how do you deal with the limits of 3D printers (they have a limit to what electronic components they can make) and how do you deal with cybernetic/genetic augmentation that under a capitlist systemn would divide the population into an unaging ritch elite and an underclass of "mortals" that would be increasingly useless when the majority of production is automated capitalism should be scrapped like all other systems before it died off when they were obsolete trying to retain capitalism in the latter information age and later in a singularity age is like attempting to run the roman empire with the neolithic system in other wordsm a collapse would be assured retaining an obsolete system while it's retention is a gross negative out of an attachment to it for any reason is illogical and can be catastrophic

Hotel without human staff, sounds like my kind of place; I don't know why he had an issue with it. When I go to a hotel I don't go there to experience a "human touch"...I go there to unpack, lay down, and have a temporary roof over my head. I'll be communicating with other humans when I attend whatever event I'm there for. Just like self-checkout at a grocery store; I don't go through a line with a cashier for a human experience....I go there because in most places I have to.
@KineticWasEpicVideos

Depends on the self checkout. Some are really well optimized, and it's faster than having someone do it the old-fashioned way, even if there's no line. However, some (looking at you local grocery store) seem to have been made by monkeys. Those, you end up dealing with people (to work around the myriads of bugs) more than you do otherwise.

The fact is, humans weren't made for mundane jobs like working in factories or sitting in offices. Those robots at check in are not doing shit, the kiosks are the ones doing everything. Those animatron robots are just there for entertainment.

4:27 that is probably the robot that comes closest to genuine interaction. The way she talked seemed really realistic. The sad thing is though that she can only move her head. How sad would it be if THAT's the shape we give an AI?

She talks realistic because someone's in another room speaking through her. If you look near the beginning of her interaction they tell you that.

i think this technology is awesome, this hotel looks like really fun, BUT the destruction of jobs is dangerous. In UK many jobs have already been taken away by implementing many self-service machines/

in the US some areas have set the minimum wage to $15 witch has caused self service machines replacing cashiers and businesses to close in the areas that decided that was a good idea
