What I think about ISFP they have the most unique sense of style when it comes to creativity. ISFP type They actually love to spend their time alone. Really reserved personality. They are a timid person. Sometimes demure personality. Patience of at least after 10 years. (The most calm and patient MBTI.) A person of few words. But when you engaged yourself to be friend and become BFF with the ISFP. They may seem to be really talkative. Very neutral personality. Passive aggressive personality. Has a really good sense of style. Creativity is really unique. Very sensitive personality. Very deep emotions on the inside. True extraverted sensing. Love to explore alone and spend time with few people. (friends) Really hate noises and conflicts. Love quite place with good environment. Logical people is good but not too much for an ISFP 😆. Loves history, culture, and art. The most easy going people of MBTI. They don't like being on the spotlight. But because of their uniqueness they can standout and be on the spotlight. My long term boyfriend is an ISFP (I'm an INFJ), and he's one of the most easygoing, inspiring, and authentic people I know. He definitely loves the external world -- using his hands in a mechanic shop, engaging his senses, creating music, participating in independent sports, etc. But he's also capable of going very deep with me, especially if our abstract conversations are rooted in history, politics, science, or physics. A lot of our convos stem from me asking "Why/how" and him either explaining to me what he thinks, or looking up the details for us to read up on. His Fi and P functions can lead him to make impulsive decisions for his own wants and happiness, which can be hard for a Fe/J type like myself who likes to plan things and take everyone's wants into consideration. That being said, we have a very loving relationship based on mutual trust, understanding, and patience -- I've never met another sensitive, artistic man with such masculine traits. We really help each other grow in our weakest areas while enjoying outdoor adventures, artistic activities, and other real, authentic people together.

As an Intp, I wouldn't say I worry about the future, just think about it. Ne sees some kind of pattern in the world, and Ti says how is this likely to work out? Using history as well as current patterns, principles to see how things work is really how any large idea is formed and how breakthroughs in science are made. Isfps are way too dismissive of theory or any knowledge they can't experience. Just because you can't experience it directly doesn't mean it's not real. Your computer was just a theory once. But it was also real, because it was a real possibility. And then it was proven to be real when someone made a computer. The theory was always fact, it just hadn't been born yet. Like a developing baby in the womb. Bad theories are like a miscarriage caused by a genetic disorder.

@@Midnight_Rider96 [Warning: wall of text; you don't have to read it if you don't want to. TL;DR: we don't all dismiss others' knowledge. We always take note of it, and how much we internalize it is a case-by-case complex situation and differs based on the individual's beliefs and way of judging aunthenticity. Agreeing with knowledge is not the same as acting on knowledge.] I wouldn't say we are all dismissive of theories or knowledge we can't experience. (Well, what I'm about to say is based only my personal ISFP experience to be fair). I would say that we acknowledge other knowledge as true if it seems perfectly logical/reasonable, but we like to do our thing and see if it works for us or not. Typing it out, that does seem stupid, but it's case by case. If my doctor says the way I sit is ruining my posture, I will believe him/her. He/She knows what they're talking about. Whether/how much I try to improve my posture due to this knowledge is a whole different issue, though as I would guess ISFPs aren't known for their habit-breaking capabilities. However, if someone says 'don't go to see that movie, it sucks,' even if I hear several good reasons why it is bad (bland characters, rushed plot, stupid ending, etc.) but I still have that feeling I might enjoy it, I will probably go see it. That person (likely) knew what they were talking about, and I will believe THEIR experience, but what they were saying was true for them, not necessarily true for me until I find out for myself. What the individual ISFP takes note of more internally (outside of their own experiences) is up to them; we're not all skeptical about scientifically proven stuff or doubtful of others' experiences, but some of us probably are. However, we do like to judge for ourselves rather than just take others' word for it. I know I am willing to learn I'm wrong the hard way if I do something against advice (due to my own 'feeling' that it might work out for me), and I guess this "illogical" reliance on our own intuition over others' experiences derives from how much this mindset has worked for us so far. Although, perhaps it's because we don't have difficulty letting go of our failures as long as we've learned from them, meaning we can afford to rely on our own guts at our own expense than other more wary personalities. After all, since we often self-analyze and reflect as introverts, our understanding of ourselves should not be underestimated. It's just that ISFPs have to be careful not to OVERestimate it. Essentially, we are all too aware that others' experiences and knowledge are 100% right/valid, but we don't always automatically drive their experiences home to ourselves without an undeniable reason why since we like to experience things for ourselves if we are driven to. In short, it's "live and let live" with reference to my vs your experiences. You could say that an item tastes awful, but unless you articulate it's because of x, y and z, (and often despite it) we're going to try it because, well, it LOOKS pretty tasty. I speak for myself saying this, but it's a matter of gain/loss whether I trust someone/something (and whether their advice is well founded or not). Hence, I am pretty trusting of well-known, accepted scientific findings, though I am all the more "behind" it when I see how it works or came to be discovered. I am, however, only 57% feeling vs 43% thinking according to my myers-briggs test results, so note that that would definitely affect my thought process with respect to accepting others' knowledge. Sorry for the wall of text, I just had my characteristic desire to express my thoughts as an ISFP i guess! XD

I'm an ISFP, and one of my best friends is an INFP. What you're saying makes perfect sense, you can often tell the difference between the two looking at how their parent function interacts with their hero function. The ISFP will have an almost "aesthetic morality" where good and bad are seen in terms of beauty and ugliness or harmony and friction. Instead, The INFP has a more traditional morality, closer to a philosophical view of the world. These two types can often annoy each other, despite their similarities, the ISFP will be annoyed at the "intuitive leaps" the INFP will make to reach an abstract conclusion, and the latter will be annoyed by the ISFP lack of interest (and criticism) for those abstract conclusions! However, if both parties are able to move past these differences, a truly exquisite transfer of knowledge can happen, they make great travel companions, the ISFP informing the other about the sensory beauty around them, and the latter informing the other about the history and culture of a place.
@jpdicey789
Жыл бұрын
Interesting, I'm an INFP and even though I arguably have more of a philosophical worldview I wouldn't in anyway describe it as traditional, I personally think that trying to ground your morality in something you can't be absolutely sure exists in the way you might mistakenly think it does though useful in certain respects can be a waste of time or even dangerously misleading in my opinion. Since my enneagram tritype has 9 in it and since living harmoniously with those around me not only for myself being a concern but for others with respect to myself I'd say that the aesthetic morality can work for us too! I'm also a 4w5 on the enneagram on the emotional part of my tritype though in the past I'd probably identify more with the tortured poet than the sunny, artistically expressive stereotype that ISFP gets lumped with, though some of that was my way of achieving harmony with the rest of the world by understanding the darker side of human nature through my own creativity and some of it was for the love of the aesthetics. I don't think that INFP's aren't as creative because they can't be, I just think that the Extraverted Intuition with relation to how much we pick up on can more often make us feel scattered because we could be left with a sea of internalised sensory data that we would either remember superficially or wouldn't based upon emotional attachment which for us is more of an abstract internalised and highly subjective vibe which can make being objective in an emotional sense very challenging. That's my experience anyway, I don't know any ISFPs that I could clearly identify but I can imagine getting on with them slightly more than my own type. As I don't relate to them very well, they come across as overly accommodating and judgemental while also coming across as superficial and shallow. I don't think it's that they aren't deep either, it's just that one man's gold is another's dog turd, hence why they often come across to me as fake and that they have an agenda. Not that all other INFP are like this, that has just been my general impression of them, in areas where I have genuine depths of concern philosophically they come across to me as really shallow and unconcerned where I think there is more of a need for thoughtfulness and consideration. But yeah don't really know ISFPs well but from what I read, them and INTPs seem like the most relatable types to me.

Fi is common in protagonists because it gives an easily understood opposition. Fi is rebellion and Te is "the system". You've seen it more times than you can count. It's best seen in Patch Adams (an ENFP I think but an Fi aux anyway) as he rebels against an ISTJ doctor.

Fi dom users carry with them the very real potential to view the world as a dichotomy of good and evil. This is good for stories, but as an INFP myself, it’s very limiting and inaccurate in real life. People are never neither wholly “good” nor “bad”. This bipolar view of the world does two things: 1) creates a burden on INFPs to live a life that is morally good and just. We all fall short of this in some way or another, and this creates guilt and even toxic shame that may disable the otherwise extraordinary capacities one carries. 2) project this moral scope and expectation on others, and often onto those that don’t care as much for morality and goodness as Fi doms do- no one does as much as them to sculpt themselves into people who are purely good. They will inevitably be let done again and again, and yet keep expecting benevolence and undue integrity from others, and even more so, themselves. Eventually, there is a chance that a cynical view of the world will be adopted, unless a more broader aspect of Fi can be developed. That is to say, one that encompasses both forgiveness and compassion, for oneself, others and humanity. None of us are perfect, as much as Fi so wish we were. The only cure is forgiveness. And possibly a lowering of expectations of others as well. The way Fi drives their bearers to excellence in humanity and concrete good is commendable and honestly quite beautiful, but forgiveness and gentle compassion is essential as well.

you hit the nail on the head. my mood can shift and change so much throughout the day, when ppl ask me how i’ve been, i can’t give a straightforward answer, so i just say “in this moment, i’m [insert how i’m feeling in said moment].” i live in the moment so much that it can feel like i exist in a vacuum, and i cannot believe that the past even happened or conceptualize the idea of a future me. and i hate planning but feels lost and directionless if i don’t have some kind of *intention* as to where i’m going with all of this. i also have a really really hard time talking to people older than me, but feel very comfortable talking to people younger than me. i work with kids but am terrified of speaking to parents lol. i am very sensitive to feeling judged, evaluated, put on the spot, etc. also people seem to open up to me a lot, maybe because i mirror emotions and don’t judge people for where they’re at. i think we should all try to empathize more, it would make the world better. shit, am i an infp ? i don’t like writing poetry or reading fiction tho. i couldn’t make up a fictional story for my life. i like dance and movement and playing music and making art. but i can ramble a lot. is that Ne ? someone help lol

Just gonna drop ISFP's stack function: Fi Se Ni Te
@Sam-bc9ll
3 жыл бұрын
What does that mean?
@spartanoreo5075
3 жыл бұрын
@@Sam-bc9ll Its the cognitive functions that make up the isfp. Fi- Introverted feeling , Se -Extraverted Sensing , Ni - Introverted intuition and Te - Extraverted thinking. The first 1 is the dominant fuction(utilized without effort), 2nd is the auxilary(the function you will most notice) , third is the tertiary and the 4th is the inferior(achilles heel). The latter functions become more prominent as you age.
@Sam-bc9ll
3 жыл бұрын
@@spartanoreo5075 hmm interesting! So you’re saying that we’re born with that order, and we become more extroverted thinking later in life? I don’t really know what that means, but you’ve peaked my interest so I’ll look into it. Thanks!
@spartanoreo5075
3 жыл бұрын
@@Sam-bc9ll It actually gets alot more complicated than that. Because you have 2 introverted functions and 2 extraverted functions. People with a dominant introverted function are most likely to in a neutral state be more introverted ,however when they decide to use their extraverted functions they appear extraverted with the particular function in mind. This helps to explain the whole ambivert situations that usually arrise within people (the same can be said for extraverts acting more introverted). The functions themselves are also drastically different as introverted feeling functions extremely differently to extraverted feeling. Same can be said for the other cognitive functions. So at a certain point it is better to just understand them individually rather than basing the idea of the functions on whether they are extraverted or introverted. In the beginning stages of one's life they are most likely going to be heavy revolving around the first 2 functions with their order of thinking (note this only affects certain perceptions of events based on the functions, so 2 people with the same functions can have very different moral philosophies because of their experiences.) As you grow older your last 2 functions become more ingrained within yourself, making you a more well rounded version of yours self. This just means instead of the last 2 functions potentially hindering you, they become more prevalent in your decision making. For clarification there are 8 cognitive functions. With each type normally only having 4. And 2 of those for are either extraverted or introverted. There is also a weird axis with it where if you were to have an introverted feeling function(fi) you will then always have the opposite thinking function (Te). So you can't have both Fi and Ti nor can you have both Si and Ni. So that's the basics, I hope this helps to understand it a bit better if you are still interested.

I'm pretty sure I'm at least a little bit involved in why he is like that. I made him take this test while he was in a good mood, and to my surprise, he got ISFP. As I was reading him the website's informations, he often said how he relates to it. Now I'm watching all youtube videos on ISFP trying to understand him more. This video was clearly on the most helpful and clear of all. So thank you very very much. I would like us to have a better relationship, and maybe help him get back on his foot. He's such a smart kid, it's a shame that he isn't doing anything of it. I think his violent behavior might came from all of our family issues. I really don't know how I could handle it, knowing I can't make him consult any kind of psychologist. With the quarantine, it's getting harder and harder to live all together and I really hope to find a way for everything to get better soon. I'm INFP. My POV they are truly gentle, warm, caring & soft actually. But they seems to expect others do the same. Like listening without judgment, accept them as they are, consideration, affection etc... But honestly i saw ISFP that often BURRY their feelings, thoughts and emotions, and not acknowledge it (maybe they just don't want to burden others, makes things worsts etc idk for sure). So it makes them frustrated, anger, feel offended, not being "UNDERSTOOD" by others etc. I might be wrong, but they look calm outside but sometimes i just felt they have anger issue burry inside LOL (IMO and once again i might be wrong) They need truly support system that makes them safety with unconditionally love, affection & patience. They will open up little by little and try to articulates their inner world with people they are truly trust. They try to understand and read others needs and wants even without words, so they want it vice versa 😂. Well for me it's hard actually read other needs and wants cause often I'm busy with my inner life as an INFP 🤣👌 ISFP is like gem for me that often can't see it in their self how shiny their are and need input from others.

I think my wife might be an ISFP. She channels her creativity into her elementary school teaching rather than into what most consider to be 'the arts'. She's extremely creative in how she engages students, gets them excited about learning, helps them with their struggles, etc. She can be quite disorganized and it seems like it takes a concerted effort for her to organize things. The only things in her life that she keeps organized are those pertaining to teaching her public school class and her Sunday School and VBS classes. She says that she appreciates my natural tendency to almost impulsively create order out of chaos. I'm the one, she says, who keeps our home in order and keeps track of our obligations outside of teaching. When we first started dating and I saw the messy state of her car and her apartment, I was like 'what am I getting myself into?' Over the past 18 years that we've known each other, I've helped her straighten up her chaotic mess while she's helped me learn to relax just a bit about being so highly organized. I've gradually become more accustomed to piles and disorganized areas, though I still can't tolerate cluttered floors. The floors of her car and apartment were always cluttered with stuff. That's one thing that I've remained adamant about: everything has to be off the floor and put somewhere. The somewhere doesn't have to be rigidly organized (anymore), but it has to be searchable. Several times a year - at least four times a year, sometimes more often: Spring, Fall, Winter and Summer, beginning of school, last week of school etc. I do a deeper clean and try to get our current apartment as clean and organized as possible. Same with our car, it gets a through detailing about four times a year. Before I married my wife, I was even more obsessed with order and cleanliness than that.

Enneagram tests show 5w4, 4w5 or the 549 tritype, so I am definitely 5 dominant in the Enneagram. Yes, all of that leans more towards INTJ. Thanks for sharing those points of differentiation! Now, to find the stylus I lost for this phone!

I am an ISFP-T and I don't get why I need the vibe of a situation to be good in order to do things lol it is kind of annoying though because I won't do something if the vibes aren't to my satisfaction idk that is why I hate Sundays because they seem to have the worst vibes to me so I tend to not get anything done and wait for monday to come. But when the 'vibes' are perfect I get really happy and can get a lot of things done. lol idk why I am saying this maybe it is interesting or really annoying oh well

Could ISFPs be more into photography than painting and music? A lot of these personality type videos seem to say ISFPs make things, but the only artistic thing I do is photography. Side note, I am not even sure I am an ISFP. I always thought I was an INFP, but people in my typing group are saying I am more S>N. I don't really talk in abstracts and metaphors.

I guess ISFPs tend to pursue artistic avenues. If it's photography for you, then yeah! You do you. I feel like you shouldn't need validation for doing what you love! (Or think you're lesser of a certain personality type just cuz you don't fit the stereotype.) That being said, I think ISFPs make good photographers tho if they are keen enough to learn the mechanics behind it. We have a sense of what might look aesthetically-pleasing to our audiences and tend to experiment on different styles and modes. On a side note, I knew an ISFP who is an art director. Does painting, other mediums of art, and yes, photography. I'm also an ISFP and I am also starting to dabble in photography myself. So yeah! Go at it! As for whether or not you're INFP vs ISFP, I would be at a loss to tell you 😅

Such a great insightful video, Nathan! Man, I feel so inspired hearing about ISFP's and reading through the comments! I'm an INFP, who always manages to get an existential crisis out of anything and everything (Ne product, probably, ugh). I so love the idea of just doing things simply because I enjoy doing them, that just sounds like heaven to me! You ISFP's are awesome!

me as an ISFP: I hate people. I run away from them, hide from them, simply social anxiety big as barn. But when i see someone clearly not very well im in mind like ,,Oh no, are they ok? I hope theyll get better." and then i walk on the street again and i hate every single person that walks by me. Im a soft, sweet, shy, emotional, empathetic person but once you do anything bad to me, im planning revenge imidiately. i cant take a critics, not even the constructive one and once you use a little bit rougher tone of voice on me, i shut down and wont talk to you unless you apologize or i have chance to apologize through chat even when i did nothing. Being ISFP is fun.

i’m an intp but i see a lot of my idealism behind creativity and being, in the isfp mindset. i know people that see me as an artist in some sense as i value the arts, creativity and the thought that goes into it. i somewhat consider myself a creative cousin of the isfp. although not as effortless perhaps lol still it feels like there’s an romanticizing isfp inside of me. i’m not sure if i’m the only intp that feels this way. although i’m very introspective about my feelings as they are something i don’t understand sometimes. thanks for the video!

"Being an ISFP in a very Te-heavy society is definitely not an easy thing to navigate." *sobs* Thanks for saying that it IS not easy ;;^;; And wow. There are so little videos made about the ISFP, and I wonder if that because you say is true, that they difficult to talk about. Personally I think all that you said was spot on! I'm very flattered about how you view us :'> I've never seen a video talking so in-depth and appreciate our core values like this.

thanks for this! :) very helpful pointer on how isfps and intjs are sometimes mixed up. I get taken aback sometimes by how emotionally intelligent ISFPs are (as an INFP I sometimes stupidly assume only other INFPs think like that....), which makes them seem like "wiser" INTJs to me (since they're both quiet, quick on the uptake, but with this mask of "dead calm" over them sometimes). Also less "driven" and less "obvious" than INTJs when trying to get somewhere.

Ill say again: One thing i think you should include in future isfp content is they're potential for actually actively despising people who both promote a lack of individuality and people who dont repeat a trend or whatever out of genuine value but out of a lack of reflection and an addiction to validation. I find myself in video games coming across the same copied player over and over, in music i hear nothing but blatant lying and self limiting, i watch movies and see the pretentiousness and lack of respect for the intelligence of the audience, and i actually to some peoples surprise actively am irritated by the glorification of stupidity and lack of care. I dont mean scientific knowledge, education or even studying philosophy, i mean generally being observant and reflective. I dont think it should just "be my personality", just the same as i gotta te and even ti at times, you all need to look inward and just stop for a second sometimes. I am a believer in individuality, but i absolutely despise those who actively limit eachother and themselves in my American society, i clearly see culture and individuality being supplemented and rendered novel and arbitrary on purpose and even manipulating culture intentionally to sell products and make people subconsciously feel validated by an authority out of a desire not to control, but generate money and products from. They arent even under "control" they are given the illusion of control through subscribing to belief "sets" and acting like its "individuality" and it really twists my guts up and makes me sick. I have no friends because i feel genuine fear of people. Its not even a te environment its like a uh.... toxic fe environment more so.....

A real conversation between my 11 y.o., an INTJ, and her best friend talking about me, an ISFP-T, and my husband, an ESTP: friend: I like your papa, he's so funny!!! kid: Papa is fun but annoying. Mama is cute - she has so many cool hobbies but she doesn't force me to try them all - unlike Papa. friend: yeah she seems nice. my mama wants to invite her for coffee. kid: yeah dunno, whenever my mama has to talk to other people, she always has to take a nap when she gets home. Or she gets stressed and cries. friend: I've never seen you cry. Over ANYTHING. kid: I'm busy, that's why. friend: 😑 LOLOL

im a big believer that people can change personality types throughout their life. as a kid i tested as an intp, and recently, before this big life change, i was an intj. now having gone through this transition and learning so much and changing, i retested as an isfp, which i feel like makes so much sense, having flowed from intj to isfp. the short attention span of isfp is #relatable bc i have adhd, and im incredibly affected by my aesthetic surroundings to the point where it can even take a toll on my mental health. im also a musician too lol this is just so scarily accurate and my world has been inverted lol

This happened to me as well! I was CONVINCED I was an INTJ, because I like to think and don't care what other's think that much. But my my my- am I an ISFP. I think the confusion might have come from the fact that the two personalities share the same functions, albeit in different orders, and the same "loop" (introverted feeling and introverted intuition): INTJ- Ni, Te, Fi, Se vs. ISFP- Fi, Se, Ni, Te. I also think that because ISFP's are extremely sensitive, they protect themselves by a hard, sarcastic exterior at times, which can mirror the INTJ's way of acting. Under stress, ISFP's tend to plan a lot, which is also what an INTJ does naturally. Because we can sometimes "big ideas" and because we would like to prove others wrong when they say we are weak/dumb, we can sometimes get very ambitious in bursts. I am very good at academics as well, so I might have confused that form of intelligence for a Thinking function.

if youre thinking about letter typing, thats not mbti, its another form of typology masked as mbti called SLOAN, or the big 5. the big 5 can change over time, but actual mbti, based off of cognitive functions, doesnt change.
