Love to Mexico from Costa Rica. Protect your cloud forests you’d be thankful you did in the future.

I wish I could visit this forest, even live there, it's so beautiful. I can fully understand why these people were willing to fight so hard to save it. I would happily take up that fight, and I'm a pacifist.

Mexico's government won't do much if there is money to be made there. It is sad because the forests of Mexico are so beautiful. I been to El Cielo reserve park for a field trip. Years later I fondly remember it how amazing it was. I wish government looked at the beauty of nature more rather than money.

Yeah they should go into IT instead of extraction of natural minerals, they think backwards
@maremagnus

"They think backwards" that's funny thing to say when Canadians, English, Dutch, Italian among other mining companies have settled in Mexico for long long time looking to leech on Mexican resources for cheap or almost for free with no heart or conscience for the place where they're exploiting, typical of rich countries sending their "recyclable" garbage to other countries, looting their lands, drying up their wells, spoiling their environments as usual... 😑

As these last wild places become more and more scarce, they have much more value as eco-tourism sites than for simple resource extraction. There is money for the local people to be made here by preservation instead of short term destruction..

I fully endorse the heart of your comment here, but as a nerdy trivia aside, scientists have worked out it's extremely possible life evolved first on Mars, and got spread to Earth via meteors. Merry Christmas!

It is very surprising that Guatemala doesn't take a more active political goal towards saving the quetzal given it is on their national currency.
