I just bought my first tractor last month. The dealer delivered it and spent an hour with me going over so many thing to look for and maintain every thing in top working order. He said when I have 50 hours on it they will come to my farm to do a free oil change and review all maintenance procedures with me. Several farmers recommended this dealership to me because of their incredible service saying even though he is fifty plus miles away he will treat you like he lives next door. I've been enjoying your videos. Thank you for the thought and effort you put into them, they have been quite helpful.

Our first tractor and were still waiting for the delivery of a B2650. I asked before we bought it if they made sure everything was right. Oil levels, grease, tire pressure, etc. The salesman said that's what we do! Now I know how to make sure. Allot to learn but so worth it. Thank you!

Good buying tips, when dad brought his second hand tractor i made he brought oils like engine/hydraulic fluids, grease, filters, belts. Concern about dad safety I added fire extinguisher and first aid kit and emergency details. I hope buyers think about safety aspect most like been alone using tractor 👍

This goes for implements as well. I worked for a john deere dealership many years ago. Spring time is always busy, fixing issues, doing basic maintenance on grandpas lawn mower, putting together tractors and implements, on top of our daily work. Well, one day, a customer purchased a new john deere brush hog on a late Saturday afternoon and I was tasked with putting it together. Well, I have only done about million of these things this last week, so I can crank them out pretty quick. I got the customer loaded up and on his way. Monday, he came back.... with a blown gear box on the brush hog because I failed to remember the gear fluid. Simple mistake. They may be the best mechanic/technician on the planet, but everyone has off days. Always check everyone's work.

Thank you! I just took delivery of a new MX5800 and the dealer didn’t remove the slow moving vehicle sign that was between the engine and radiator. Also the next day I used the brush hog to find out they didn’t remove the metal bar used to hold it upright and my blade hit it. Needless to say the dealer was out the next day to take it back.

great video, great advice. that back end looks real busy.... what would you suggest for tie down points to tow? tie down with chain also, not straps. thx
@TractorMike

I usually tie around the draw bar frame on the back and the axles on the front. Sometimes those are tough to get to with the chains. You may have to go to the rear axles on the back. I've seen guys go to the three point assembly on the back and I'm not in favor of that.

I was wondering how critical it would be to have the right pound feet on the bolts of the wheels. I for example never check this on my pickup truck (not even with a normal (non torque) wrench). So, should I get me a torque wrench and check this? Or just when getting the new tractor once and a while tighten them with a regular wrench? (I think here in Thailand the dealer might not even do it with a torque wrench but I will check with them).

I subscribed to your channel a few months ago and have been watching all your videos and really enjoy them and they are very informative but you were saying to put grease on the battery terminals that used to be a standard thing to do but now with all the electronics that they have now you should never put grease on battery terminals they make a regular battery terminal sealer to stop corrosion and won’t create a voltage drop or drain

I actually have this one: amzn.to/2ZM83VG. Wish I had bought this one: amzn.to/37ybOAE because there are times when I need the 250 lbs of torque. I went the cheap way and wished I had gone ahead and got the 250 lb model.

I'm not sure what the ticket showed but he traded in a larger, older tractor, so it would be difficult to know what the actual selling price would have been. He didn't get a backhoe, I wish he would have, that would be something I would try to borrow :).

Any recommendations on a good torque wrench? Got some bolts that go up to 350 and also 406 lb-ft. Seems like those would be reserved for a technician to measure.
@TractorMike
7 жыл бұрын
Not for the 406 lbs. That must take one whale of a cheater bar! I have a Tekton that I ordered off the Internet that goes up to 150 lbs that I like, you get up in those higher ranges and I'm not sure what you need but maybe a really good air wrench. Where are those bolts?
@BC-yv8ew
7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Mike. So my operator's manual says the rear axle disk-to-flange bolts are supposed to be at 406 lb-ft. And the front axle bolts are 350.
