Hey!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to thank you so much! You are a gift to creation. My drier was installed and wired up at my old house by the installers. I moved the said drier to my new house and the circuit breaker kept tripping. Hmmmm, I figure a new house must mean that the drier got knocked around in transit. I took the whole F-en thing apart and watched every trouble shooting video about my Samsung that I could find on ohm -ing out the heat box and the motor. One at a time I disconnected every internal plug and it kept throwing the breaker ; ( I finally got to the plug-in terminal block and one at a time disconnected the leads. I found that when I disconnected the common white wire, my breaker would hold......hmmmmmmmmmm. That got me looking at how this white wire was wired in. I found that the white wire was coming from the wire harness and was screwed down under the GREEN F-en wire on the chassis ground wire. I said to myself...... what the F. What is the point of having a 4 prong outlet?????????? I found your video and you pointed out the wiring diagram on the back side of the drier. And yesssss, all of you that read thus far have guessed it (it was wired as a 3 prong plug in). DAT AIN'T RIGHT! In a four prong system, the common wire coming from the harness attaches to the wire block under the white wire coming from the drier cord. I can't imagine how it worked at my previous house. Anyways, I hope this comment and video helps others. The video definitely confirmed and directed me in the right direction! Thank you BUBBA!

Oh thanks for putting this up. I did mine by the wiring diagram on the back of the dryer but had to check online to see if it came out right. It came out right but my biggest concern was the other grounding screw that is under the rest. In the diagram it showed the "green grounding wire" going to the top screw on the left, but I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be the one from the plug or if I was supposed to disconnect the lower wire and put them both on the top. Thanks!! Because you put this video up now I don't have to keep double guessing my work 😆.

@becausestuffbreaks
9 ай бұрын
Go through the comments, and you'll find one along with my responses. If you have the manual still, you can look at the green wire with the yellow stripe and see it's connected to neutral. The manufacturer should have probably made the green/yellow wire white to avoid this confusion. You can see in the video that I wired it correctly per the manufacturer. Two days ago, Costco delivered my washer and dryer. The guy seemed to struggle with the dryer and used only a power driver. The next morning, I looked at the flex duct and it was kinked up awkwardly, so I pulled the dryer and discovered a hot mess. The duct was loose, kinked and punctured. The strain clamp was not installed right, was loose, and I could see traces of char. Pulling the cover, the red hot wire was loose, cooked with wires and insulation burned. In the process of getting the unit replaced, so far I've talked to Concierge Service, Costco Online and got a voice mail from Appliance Service. I do trust Costco but the hoops are not fun. I worry about all the appliances this dipstick is installing daily. Really regretting tipping those guys.This could have ended up in a fire. I have a picture if you want to see, don't know how to upload on here.

@@becausestuffbreaks I did, it’s got the four prongs and installed fine, but I’ve never had a harness on my last few dryers and the cord didn’t come with one

Might put my cord clamp on the other side to prevent wires from being pulled back out

What if the wire that is on the dryer is white
@becausestuffbreaks

Is it white in place of my green with yellow stripe wire? If so, then you do the same as I did with that green/yellow stripe wire. Always consult your user manual if in doubt.

Okay my ground is white. Do I also double the middle with the other ground ?

@@becausestuffbreaks your first step you disconnected the ground wire that was connected to the dryer then you connected that wire plus the white wire together in the middle.. so what I'm asking is would I do the same even tho the ground wire that's on my dryer is white?

Are you saying the wire I have on my dryer that's green with a yellow stripe is actually white on your dryer?

@@becausestuffbreaks yes.. so do I put it with the middle with the white one as well?

@@rayjay88 correct. Put it in the middle with the white one also. Let me know if it all works when you're done.

Orientation of the plug doesn't matter. It should all be wired the same.

Like a burning smell? Is it the same dryer? Was it the first time you used it?

Did the smell go away after running it? Might be dust, lint or debris from the manufacturer on the heating element.

Please show how much volt on line L1 & L2
@becausestuffbreaks
2 жыл бұрын
With it plugged in, if you measure AC voltage from L1 to L2 it should read between 220vac and 240vac. If you measure L1 or L2 to Ground (Green) or Neutral (White), it will read between 115vac to 120vac. Did that answer your question?

Crazy. I had an electrician tell me in the comments I wired it wrong and that he has wired a lot of them, so he should know. But he was wrong, 😁. Thanks for the like!
