Good video just a tip from a fellow 650 owner......put the die locking nuts on the bottom of the tool head.

You should show how it actually works like showing the plunger go into the shell. That plunger needs to go inside the shell not on its edge etc. Simple shot of that would have been nice.

Very informative video. I just bought a Dillon 650 a couple weeks ago. I am having trouble getting the powder checker calibrated. May be you will have some insight. Here is my problem: I have a case that is correctly charged. As the ram is approaching the top of it's stroke, the powder check rod is rising inside the powder check die. As the powder check rod is rising while the ram is moving upward, the contact pin is riding along the edge of the check rod sleeve and the alarm is sounding all the while until the ram reaches the top of the stroke at which time the pin rests in the groove of the check rod sleeve and the alarm stops. How do I get the pin to not ride along the edge of the sleeve, causing the alarm to sound, while the ram is moving upward.

Humm... The shell plate contacts the push rod screw when the shell plate is almost all the way up. I can only think that the push rod screw is screwed out to far.

From the 23 grs. , how low or high of powder will set the alarm off? 0.2 grs.? 0.5 grs? I realize this will change from caliber to caliber. Just curious.

What this device does is to let you know if you have a low/no power condition or a too much powder condition. It is not really designed to measure a few grains difference in a load. I still look in the cases, to be sure things look OK in terms of powder level. The Dillon is great for holding a charge and repeating that charge from drop to drop, even with flake powders like Unique. The device does well for what it is designed to do.

I realize what you stated., I was just curious of where the alarm started sounding off. I have a 550 and plan to upgrade to a 650 in the next year. So I;m looking at these and the RCBS press stop(which I like)which is a little cheaper, and I like the concept. Thanks for your reply. I'm looking to put a case feeder on my 550 now

When I set up my powder check, I set it so that the indicator sets right in the middle. What does this benefit? It only prevents double charging and under charging. These are the two most hazardous conditions for any load. Even then, I tend to check the powder drop at a couple of points during a reloading session. I also still look into each case as they move through the stations. I have an LED light mounted to fully light the shell plate and cases.

I am not surprised that I got the nomenclature wrong. I am not an experienced KZitem video producer and I get nervous when the camera is rolling. I am working on it. But thanks. BTY, what did I get wrong?
