Machine learning with emulation allows AIs to become super smart in a very short time span. It's the same for us really, the more we get to do something, the more we excel at it. And using an emulator like EVE-NG or GNS3 allows us to run hundreds or even thousands of different emulations of the network to actually see in real-time what happens and learn from our own mistakes without it impacting our production environment. I have ALWAYS been a fan of emulation and I will always push for people to use it in their own capacity if they are able to since it will help them with whatever goals they may have. Thanks for the cool video!

Very modest of The Network Berg not to promote his Channel which has loads of similar Mikrotik emulator examples.

If you need WIFI (for testing capsman for example) you can extend GNS3 networks to real one. For example, on my PC I have second NIC, that is passing virtual network to lab switch. Using "Cloud" you can attach it to real interfaces. Then you can plug in WIFI APs and do capsman setups. Or on laptop, you can use NIC (If you don't have integrated NIC you can use a dongle, it costs as low as 10eur) for labs environment pass thru and WIFI for your local network access. You can use this for all kind of mixed lab environments - hybrid lab.

This is awesome! You guys rock! You're making me want to switch to Linux, and specifically Manjaro again. (I used to run Manjaro as my main OS) How many at MikroTik run Linux as their main OS? What's the most popular OS, laptop, etc at MikroTik?

I know GNS3 but I like more EVE-NG. It would be nice if we could use "reel" hardware for emulation. As an example. I build a network for a customer, it has a LTE, would be nice if I could import config from the reel LTE. Now I have to import, rename many interfaces, and then I can work with it. I hope you understand my weird sentences :) Thanks for the video, and for your work at all.

Why do you like EVE-NG more?

"Thanks Druvis for the informative videos! Your Mikro Tips are always educational and your commentary explaining why things are done adds to the learning experience. One question, do you have a recommendation for the minimum amount of DRAM needed on the host for running multiple CHR instances in GNS3? Is 8GB enough with a Linux host or should 16GB be considered the minimum?"

I keep hoping we'll get some Cap AX's rolling out soon! I need to kill off the last Ubiquiti portion of my network.

Thanks Druvis, I tried GNS3 on Windows and I just couldn't get work properly properly. The UI just wouldn't consistently connect to the server. I've heard the experience is much better in Linux. I've moved to EVE-NG now and while there's a learning curve around getting ROS images running on the server the HTTP Web client works really well. Would like the pro version for the link management but can't afford it.

i've got it working on windows with hyper-v (since i need it for WSL) but it was not easy either, documentation was quite limited and i had to do some trial-and-error.

I just installed Ubuntu in VM and setup GNS3 locally there. The official way caused issues like you mentioned. + now i can easily migrate.

I have issues getting it working properly as well in windows. I gave up after my CHR continues hangs. Might try GNS3 or EVE-NG under Linux instead. Seems to be working better.

A lot of things have changed. GNS3 running on vmware is very easy to setup. Then just install client and start importing images to your server.
