I bought a Macbook Pro late 2011, put in new battery, ssd and 16 gb ram. Tried to install the latest supported OS and ended up with Yosemite. I had to install Google Chrome to be able to download OCLP. Then I started to download Sonoma, but I had to have High Sierra, so a bit of Catch 22. Therefore I turned to Ventura which downloaded just fine, and I started to install. I came to the minute 8 of your video, and the computer started over.....and it got stuck on "less than. one minute left"....tried to restart and install all over again, with the same result. I waited almost an hour for that "single minute".... Now I will turn to Linux. But your video is very good and informative! It´s just my (un)luck. 🇺🇸🇸🇪

@@vakuumhuvud Hi @vakuumhuvud, thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds like you've put in a lot of effort to get your MacBook Pro up and running with a newer OS. The situation with installing OpenCore can definitely be a bit tricky, especially with older hardware and the need for certain macOS versions as prerequisites. The issue with the installation getting stuck at 'less than a minute' is frustrating, and it's a common hiccup with macOS installers. Sometimes, this can happen due to disk issues or other system conflicts. You might want to try a couple of things before giving up: Make sure your SSD is formatted correctly (APFS for newer macOS versions). Run Disk Utility to check for any disk errors before starting the installation again. If possible, try installing macOS Ventura through OpenCore on a different USB drive to see if that helps. If you decide to go with Linux, that’s a great option too! There are many lightweight Linux distributions that can breathe new life into older Macs. I'm glad you found the video informative, and I'm sorry it's been such a struggle. Best of luck with whichever path you choose!

I noticed that when putting the openpatcher on the hd, that there wasn't any roots to download from it. Is that normal for a mid 2017 iMac? I also noticed assets package for the openpatcher. What is that for and what I need something for this as well? Also for the hd partitioning, all I'm getting is a apis, extended journaled to others for formatting. What needs to be chosen when partitioning the hd? I'd assume extended journaled?

I did the install on a 5,1 macbook pro and it will not consistently boot when tell the system to restart. I get the circle with a slash icon. If I do complete power off and then power on the boot process works the majority of the time. With the behavior doing a restart from the apple or running and automated restart every 24 hours I cannot use this machine unattended. How can I fix opencore 1.5 to consistently reboot?

Hi! It seems like OpenCore isn't locating the macOS Ventura installer correctly. To fix this: Make sure the Ventura installer is in your Applications folder, as OpenCore typically looks for it there. If you downloaded it as a .dmg or other format, make sure it's the full installer version of macOS Ventura. You can check by navigating to the Applications folder and looking for "Install macOS Ventura.app." If OpenCore still can't find the installer, try downloading it through the macOS Software Update or using gibMacOS to ensure you have the correct version. After following these steps, OpenCore should be able to detect the installer and proceed with the installation. Hope this helps!

It seems like you're running into an issue with the OpenCore configuration. Try the following: 1. **USB Configuration**: Make sure your USB map is correctly set up in your OpenCore configuration. Sometimes the keyboard and mouse won't work if the USB settings aren't correct. 2. **SMBIOS Settings**: Double-check that you have the correct SMBIOS settings for your Mac Pro 7,1. Incorrect settings could lead to boot issues. 3. **Kext Files**: Ensure you have the proper kext files for your mouse and keyboard, especially if you're using a wired mouse. 4. **Boot Screen**: If you see the Apple logo and then a black screen, it could be a GPU support issue. Try adding the correct GPU kexts. If you attempt the installation again, make sure you're using the latest version of OpenCore. Hope this helps you.

My disk not bootable after os intall on drive
@macintoshteam6657
10 күн бұрын
@@68focusphotography64 It seems like your disk isn’t booting after installing macOS using OpenCore. This issue can occur for several reasons. Here are some steps that might help you resolve it: Check your EFI partition: Make sure OpenCore was correctly installed to the EFI partition of the disk. Without this, your Mac won’t be able to boot from the drive. Reset NVRAM/PRAM: After installing, sometimes resetting the NVRAM can help your system recognize the new bootloader. You can do this by pressing and holding Option + Command + P + R when starting your Mac. Verify OpenCore Configuration: Ensure that the OpenCore configuration (config.plist) is properly set up for your specific Mac model. Incorrect configurations can prevent your system from booting. You can use tools like OpenCore Configurator or ProperTree to help with this. Reformat and Reinstall: If you’re still facing issues, it might be helpful to reformat the disk using Disk Utility, then reinstall both macOS and OpenCore, making sure to follow each step carefully, especially when setting up the bootloader. OpenCore Version: Make sure you are using the latest version of OpenCore and that it is compatible with the macOS version you’re trying to install. BIOS/SMC Settings: Depending on your Mac model, incorrect BIOS or SMC settings may also prevent the boot. Double-check to ensure your settings match those recommended for macOS installation on your particular hardware.
