Want to clad a facade with Thermo Ayous? Go to gadero.nl/gevelbekleding-mont...
In this episode of Gadero TV, we clad a facade of thermally modified timber in a triple block profile.
We show you how to expertly assemble these virtually knot-free planks of African Ayous wood.
Make sure you have a good foundation. Fix the ventilation slats with the arches on the gable side and use stainless steel screws 4 x 50 mm for this.
Place our Wovar stainless steel ball head nail 45 mm long in the two rebates, preferably with a tacker (you cannot get into the rebate with a hammer). Always pre-drill the Ayous wood yourself, it is important not to pre-drill the battens. Caution! Do not nail the ball heads into, but onto the wood. Once the battens are in place, you can install the first horizontal batten.
It is important that you always point the knife edge downwards.
Ayous wood is heated with steam to over 200 degrees during a heat treatment. After this steam treatment, the wood is comparable to hardwood of durability class 1 or 2, with a lifespan of 20 to 25 years.
The special feature of this profile is that it can be installed both vertically and horizontally. Ayous thermo wood has an attractive, warm colour that greys beautifully after a while. This cladding is 100% ecological, dimensionally stable and environmentally friendly. These block profiles also have good resistance to wood rot.
GaderoTip: during assembly, check with the long spirit level that the whole is still level.
