I usually use the piece of emery cloth for a feeler guage. Works pretty well for general use

Peak torque is usually around 8k rpm. Haven't encountered a saw with limiter under 13k. Only advantage I can see is having the initial inertia from the chain, clutch and flywheel going 1-2k rpm above limited coil carrying into first half second or so at the start of each cut.

To space or gap coil use business card or fold a piece of paper / envelop in half and use that , place over the mags on flywheel with coil loose and spin flywheel til the coils stuck to mags tighten and then roll flywheel to remove paper. Also when i tuned mine with a small tach i would put top rpm 12-12500 , i would also drill the exhaust out which was the biggest increase in power

On my 359 the shop manual says I need 0.3mm spacing between coil and magnets, +/- 0,1 mm. Good idea to use an ordinary business card as the "feeler gauge".

Not sure why mine seems to rock in and out at the top and bottom. The center part of the coil where the bolt is is closer to the flywheel than the magnets. So I just set the gap and try to make the magnet gaps even

I replaced the ignition coil on my Husqvarna chainsaw. I used the business card method to set the gap. I got it to start several times but couldn't keep it running. The gas is good and so is the plug. Any thoughts?

if you could place the unit in a cradle, you wouldn't be chasing it all over the place..harder work than it needs to be? I am watching this as I want to trace the wiring to/from the kill switch, without having to dismantle unnecessarily.

Do you need to remove the cylinder to replace the ignition coil?

geochaben No you don’t have to remove the cylinder I was rebuilding the saw so I figured why not just do a video on replacing a regular coil with a non-rev coil
