You get what you pay for in this world. Lovely to have a massive skylight but it does cost a few pennies. Thank you for watching 😁👍

Thankyou. The roof was dirty, still is in fact. But I did clean the areas that needed to be cleaned for bonding skylight to roof lol :)

Great video...can I ask about the opening size? Instructions say 500mm x 700mm yet measuring the skylight it's 690mm x 495mm. Should there be this discrepancy?

Nice video, but why does everybody on YT wear gloves when using power tools? Incredibly dangerous workshop practice, they snag a cutting tool and your hand is dragged in, seen it happen and it is horrible.

Without 2 side windows you won’t be able to re-register as camper, will you? New DVLA rules. Will only be van with bed. Harder to insure?
@LukesVanLife
3 жыл бұрын
Even with two side windows it's notoriously and almost impossible to get a van registered as a motor caravan these days. They always come back as van with windows. So I'm not fussed about declaring it as a motor caravan. It doesn't make it harder to insure, just probably not a cheap as if it were 'motor caravan'

Loving the channel, just found it, ordered some of the Helian lights.I’ve got a 400x400 roof light but they’ve sent it with the maxxshade fixed to it, any tips on how to get it off, (nothing in the instructions)I don’t want to damage it!!! Also did you just fit it to the timber temporarily to tighten it to the roof? Cheers
@LukesVanLife
3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for watching. Are you talking about the black out blind and fly net that clips in? Mine has that as well but I didn't fit it till yesterday when I finished the ceiling in the van. If it's the same thing it clips in with metal clips but it's tricky to get off, you have to carefully pry it off but a nerve-racking experience. The timber isn't fixed to anything, it's just wedged between the ceiling of the van and the skylight internal insert and now cladding. 👍😁

@@LukesVanLife Yes that's what I was on about but I've managed to get it off, you're not wrong, I didn't fancy breaking it and thanks for your reply, it's very much appreciated.

have u ever had problems with insurance after cutting the holes.. or modifying a van in any way ? ... so far the only holes ive had to make are for the heater ... which i was nervous about but it went well... measure 10 times drill once lol... just bought a solar panel but thinking about running the cable underneath and coming up thru the floor ... not sure how practicle that is but it wont ever leak ..
@LukesVanLife
3 жыл бұрын
Never had any insurance problems. Your only nervous for the first time you cut holes, make sure you watch plenty of KZitem vids. Installing a solar panel cable gland on the roof is dead easy. And will never leak if you use the right sealant. I'll be installing solar on this van in January so if you haven't done yours by then. I'll include how to install the cable gland in the vid so you can see how I do it. 👍😁
