Thanks for this! I got tripped up in a couple of places. First : I used Hyper-V with the .vhd file from the Microsoft website to avoid the installation process. Hyper-V's virtual switch defaults to an internal one that uses a 172.16.x.x address range and not the 192.168.x.x range of my home network. Solved this by adding another external type virtual switch within hyper-v and connected the VM to that one instead. Second : I couldn't figure out why the [Next] button was greyed out when it came to Role Services in the Add Roles and Features Wizard. In the video at 9:47 it looks like there's a cut that leaves out checking the box "DirectAccess and VPN (RAS)" which enables the [Next] button. Thanks again! Can't wait to tackle the next tutorial in the series.

Everything is fine apart from that 20GB NVME storage . According to Microsoft the minimum storage for any vm shouldn't be less that 32GB. I prefer 60-80GB when i think about installing most of the services.
@EastCharmer
10 күн бұрын
For what we're doing, 20GB is enough. This is only a free trial for 180 days anyway for practice. This is beginner friendly and most people don't have enough storage. Win server is also lighter than win desktop so 20gb is doable for practice. For win 10 desktop 20gb isn't enough because that's the minimum storage required just for the OS, but for server, 20gb is good enough for the homelab

The installation of three virtual servers on the Type 1 hypervisor, include Windows Server 2022 as the primary OS MACHINES--> AD/DC DNS, DHCP, and the File Server Resource Manager. For context, I am currently enrolled in the Cybersecurity Network Engineering program at Valencia College here in Florida. We’ve been focusing on Linux, particularly RHEL, given its increasing importance over the next five years. I look forward to the possibility of working together and learning from your expertise.
