Thank you so much, but you have an older version of cables. I had a slightly newer version and a new chime box where I can turn a switch and make the sound more quiet. Thanks anyway, you gave me the confidence to pursue this and it turned out exactly has planned. The directions were kind of confusing, but after you just match up the colors everything worked out fine. Thanks! :)

@ Ricardo you might need an accessory wire I had to get an accessory wire for my 2010 Chevy cobalt cause the car didn't have the red power wire but if that's the case take your care to a stereo place and let them install everything I learned how to do my stuff my watching my cuzzin install my system in my moms truck

Hello Michaganshooter, I was wondering about the Chime that you added. I'm confused on how you're suppose to splice that into the wiring harnesses. What color wire do you splice to the chime? And would this also work for my 2002 Grand Am. Thanks.

you should have told everyone everything they would need to purchase like the antenna adapter and installation kit. This was so annoying taking everything apart just to find out you need more than just a wiring harness!!!!! I mean this is supposed to be an instructional video for people that don't know what they are doing =/

I installed a radio to my gf's car, when i brought the cables together, i did them with black tape, the one that is very hard to come out. My only concern is that ive seen some people using a lighter to heat up the tape after both cables are together, but i didnt do that at all. but i did made sure to tape them right, and put extra tape on them too.

Good video overall, however; It is worth noting that in at least the 05 Grand Am, simply matching the colored wires does not quite do the job. Apparently the red switched power wire must be connected to some other source other than the corresponding red wire in the dash radio harness. I read somewhere that possibly a dark green wire in the ignition switch works. Have yet to locate and try it. Everything else as shown in this video works as described.

BTW, great tutorial. I just have one question. Is it a best practice to still add an additional ground wire even though both your wire harness and radio harness include one? Or were you just including that step as if the harness didn't include a ground wire.

The instructions called for the ground wire splicing. Might have something to do with that particular radio interfacing with that particular vehicle.

I tried a harness connected to scosche chime the radio works good but my car is going crazy and keep showing low gaz error that I had before installing the radio. I took it to the lose auto parts and the error was U1016. Do you know anything about that. Thanks

I have the same car (04 Grand Am) and need to swap my stock radio out for one that has Aux. ports. I have the new radio and all but was wondering do i have to buy the wiring harness you were with in order to connect the radio to the wires? Or will the stock harness automatically connect? If that makes sense. And also, i'll be adding wires that run to an amp in the back. That would be the power wire for the amp and a few others. Where do they connect? Thanks.
Is there anyone who can help me with my installation? I'm trying to install a single din car stereo into my double din slot on my 2001 toyota rav 4 but it has a double wire harness and my new radio only takes one but some of the wires I need to connect from the radio to cars are on the two separate harness! I don't know how to connect a double to a single. Please help of you can

what do u actually need to do this? I believe the first wire harness that u stripped is the one that comes with the new stereo. But is the other cable skein a car model adapter with the ISO-plug removed? It's probably a dumb question but I haven't done this before.

the orange wires arent for sub out they are for the dimming of the stereo lights, some aftermarket stereos use them, most dont. just make sure theyre covered up good otherwise your dash lights fuse will pop and you wont see your speedo and stuff.

Great video, thank you! I just wanted to add, to those asking about finding the wire harness (for the 05 Grand Am and others)........spend the extra 70 bucks and purchase the Scosche Replacement Interface, part number GM2000FA. What isn't very widely described is that the interface CONTAINS the wire harness needed to hook cleanly into the factory receiver unplugged from the factory stereo. I lost a day looking for the harness, bought the interface and lo and behold, damn thing was in there too. The added bonus of buying the interface is you retain all the warnings chimes. Don't even try and cheap out, just buy the thing. I also purchased the Scosche installation kit GMT2049AF. Each wire from the JVC stereo harness matched up perfectly to the Scosche receiver, color for color. And lastly, I made a mistake and didn't buy the Antennae adapter. Yep, the factory aerial is smaller, went back and bought universal adapter UAA1F. I called around looking for a wire harness, one stereo shop tried to sell me the interface and harness for $150.....nothing wrong with profit but Walmart had them for half that.

having a connector made for your vehicle is convenient BUT sometimes there can be a wire or two off and it should take you minutes to wire a color coded harness. if you cant then you shouldnt be doing it in the first place
