Hey there. Everything is working great thus far. I just ran out of course foam so I will need to order some from you soon. The medium and fine foams seem to last alot longer.

That is great to hear. I just watched your update and saw how good a job your filter was doing. It sounds like your Coarse Foam is giving up the ghost. I've seen the same thing in my testing and have changed from the convoluted foam to high quality Poret foam. There isn't much material at the tips of the Coarse Foam so it doesn't take long for the bacteria to simply eat it away. I think the Poret foam will last a lot longer, do as good a job and what's better, it's cheaper. Keep up the good work, and... Happy Fish Keeping, Don

Great vid. I contacted Don to get some media. How are the foam pads holding up? Also what did you order for the coarse, medium and fine foam pads? I'm going to upgrade my media while I'm doing maintenance on my canister and using bio home ultimate mini in mine. What I did in my was the void on the bottom I used Ehiem Bio mech to fill the void to stop the. heavy muck from being agitated and clogging up the coarse pad I current use. works out nice and created more surface for beneficial bacteria to grow.

+Racing1278 my filter system is working good except the coarse media fails after about 2-3 months of use. Don told me he replaced the foam with better stuff.

Why do you have the Coarse Filter after the Filter Floss when you took the old filters out???

+J Fernandez yep. I still have the filter and it works great. I clean the media once per month. Still using the original media I installed and it's as good as it was new.

I'm more concerned with the relays then the fuses. I bought it from a pick and pull place, thus the issue. I have the diagram on the inside of the box but it doesn't tell me everything

Is there gap between canister body and filter tray, which can bypass water without filter process?

I would double-check the motorhead assembly rubber o-ring to make sure it's intact and not damaged. On each of my canister filters I apply petroleum jelly (vaseline) to rubber seals each time I service the units. It will ensure a water-tight seal and increase longevity of these parts. Also make sure that the motorhead is seated correctly on the canister body. If that doesn't correct the problem, contact Penn-Plax® Consumer Service for assistance.

you dont need carbon. Carbon is only for the few times that you might have to deal with something weird in the water...like something you added, like meds etc. So I never have carbon in my filters

Don't be so dramatic. It's a functional aquarium canister filter. It's not that "crazy", "wow" man. lol. The average canister filter unit, filters aquatic/marine water appropriately.
