The dad of a good friend of mine had a stump in one of his fields that he couldn't dig up. This was back years ago. He used a couple sticks of dynamite and blew that sucker fifty foot in the air. Dirt flew a good hundred yards and fell like rain for couple of minutes. That was the loudest boom I've ever heard in person.

And that folks is why farmers usually talk about quarter sticks for stumps! Just enough to knock it loose, but not to cause a dirt shower. Not nearly as much fun but much more efficient. Besides it does not rattle the neighbor's glass as much.

Another great video ! Why do I like to see Chris work all the time , he either digs up trees and dirt with the excavator , pushes trees over and pushes dirt with the dozer , and hauls both with the truck , seems to do this over and over and wow I'm addicted , love it . Cant wait for the next video !!!

Just a little Funfact: My rather annoying OCD was intrigued to see @06:01 what we call a Tachograph in the middle of the dash. I never knew they were exported to the USA. It looks like a speedo and is probably in Km / hour but I doubt it gets noticed. The two knobs each side of the mileage readout are for the driver to select 'mode' (driving, rest or whatever) and there is a small keyhole at the top which allows the whole front to tip down to change a thick paper disc that records all the truck movements and times. I was a certified technician to install and calibrate them. When we first had to use them in trucks and artics (semis) over 7.5 Tons many decades ago we called them a 'Spy in the cab' but over time we realised they actually worked for the driver not against him / her. They could be used as a defence against a Police stop for speeding but the Police couldn't use them against us other than for driving hours. And the dispatcher couldn't push us into illegal driving. About 10 years ago it all went electronic and now its a black box and we use smart cards. Progress!

I have a suggestion on the burn piles. First, dig your hole and put all the burn in it. When it comes time to use the dirt for other things you have it already in a pile and you can use what you don't need over the burn piles. Very interesting video keep on driving!

After a long day on one of my excavators trying to clear a mudslide with a rock face to my left and a drop off to my right working my way up the slide to clear the trees off of it so I could start dumping the dirt and mud over the edge of the cliff with lots of little jolts of adrenaline as my excavator would slip and tip I find myself sitting at my desk watching Chris work his equipment to relax. When I got my excavator back down the slide by burying the blade and using the bucket as an outrigger in front of me as I slid down I looked at my hands and realized they were ever so slightly shaking. The forces we are playing with are no joke, all the best you crazy operators out there, if you can’t be entirely safe at least be careful.
