Did you had to drill out the hole for the valve stem? First time doing a tube in a drag slick. And my question is did you guys had to make sure that the rubber part of the stem poking thru the hole? Or just the threads? My guess is the rubber of the stem has to be showing thru the rim than lock it down with the knurled nut.

No these rims had the correct size hole. They’re Weld Wheels. Make sure you check before you go drilling a hole any bigger

@@Jvcomet I used a micrometer the rubber part of the stem is 5/8's. I'm afraid to start drilling holes into the rim if I don't like how the tube sits on the inner part of the rim

Ok so if you don’t have Bead locks and you put a tube in the tire if you end up hooking up hard and spin the tire on the rim he would rip the tube completely off with no bead lock and the tire might spin on the rim a little bit you’ll still be OK you can actually put a small mark on tire and rim and check after a pass to see if it’s shifted over if the car tends to leave Hard I would put bead locks and tubes in it you can also call me any time we could talk on the phone hope that helps good luck

Do you prefer M/T or Hoosier and why?
@Jvcomet

I’ve used a Firestone slick wich is now Phoenix for years with the stick setup.28.5x10.5 .now I’m trying to run the 28x10.5 small tire deal so I’m using the M/T stiff wall . We’ve had big tire cars we work on with both . I have never tried the Hoosier on my car. But I know they definitely work better for no prep . Being every car setup could be different, tires are the same you need to see what irks best for your setup and what your trying to do . Hope that helps 🤔. Thanks for watching !!

What are the purpose of the tubes? Is there any benefit in drag racing?
@Jvcomet
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question. The tube in a drag slick is beneficial in multiple ways depending on what you’re looking to do with the car in our case we needed to stiffen up the tire in other cases guys run real low tire pressure so we run a tube to keep the air in the tire because most times if you run to little air the bead will unseat or leak. Hope that answers your question . Thanks for watching .
