Hey guys. What has been your favorite renovation pop up on your camper? What did you absolutely have to remove, and what did you absolutely tell yourself you needed? Let me know.

4 years ago I purchased a 1994 Flagstaff by cobra pop up trailer here in Canada. It was a bidding auction on market place with a starting bid of $500. I was able to go and see it before I bid, and knew it was going to need alot of work. Owners were hoping to get 2k for it through the auction. My bid of 500 was the only bid so that's what I paid. First summer I owned it I worked on some of the electrical. Second summer me, and a couple of neighbors removed the roof and complete gutted and rebuilt it. There was so much mold on the ceiling and in the roof structure it had to be completely rebuilt. I also installed a new roof vent, and then had the roof coated by lineX, so it would never leak again (side note: instead of the previous owner replacing the broken vent, they tried to glue, and silicone the cracks, which is what caused the roof to rot). I also replaced the tiny dounut tires and wheels with larger wheels and tires. Then I installed a new canvas from bear creek canvas in Wisconsin. It was the most expensive repair that was over 2k after taxes, shipping, duties, and US to Canadian currency conversion. We enjoyed camping many times over the next 2 years. This summer I decided to renovate the rest of the interior. I primered and painted the ceiling, cabinets and wood trim. Installed new cabinet hardware, and very similar flooring as you have. A friend is reupholstering the cushions, and curtains. It looks way better now, than that early 90's look. Also the 3 way fridge stopped working last summer and will be replaced soon, which is another 1k to replace😡. I would say I have spent 4k on this trailer, but it has been worth the money considering how much my wife and daughter and I spend in it each year. It's also still way cheaper than buying a new pop up. Cheers!

Hi, do you think it would be relatively easy to pull up one plank and replace it if needed? Also, any trouble when getting them wet with sills or mopping the floor?
@Mauriceandcarolyn

@@Branjiebelle hi thanks for watching and the comment. We haven’t had any issues sweeping or mopping these floors with spills. We tend to get them up right away, have a shower mat outside the toilet/shower combo, and we caulked around where the cabinet meet the floor. Replacing one plank should be easy. Just use a utility knife but make sure you take that measurement beforehand in case the plank damages or snaps when you pull it up. Best of luck to you.

@@Mauriceandcarolyn yes, not sure which direction to run the vinyl strips. I watched a similar video and they went crossways, yours runs lengthwise. Any advantage or disadvantage either way? Thanks for your reply.

@@bokendrick6553 definitely look at the angles and what you would need to cut to make everything fit. I had limited items that would prevent me from running left to right. But if you have a table that inserts into the floor or other items it may be beneficial to go opposite

Thanks for checking in. The floor had held up great over the years. I placed caulk around the edges so some touch ups here and there. But they are still easy to clean and manage. I still have extra boards saved away int eh case I need to pull up any or decide ti spray the cabinets a new color. Thanks for stopping by and hope yours turn out great.

You did a great job and it looks awesome. With this video being 2 years old, I would like to ask how the peel and stick floor is holding up? Did you have to replace or re glue any of it? I live in a state that can get 98 to 103 in the summer and 50 to 0 in the winter and we have humidity. Any advice? Thank you

It has actually held up well. I replaced the one closest to the door just because of wear and tear from a few trips and not getting it perfect the first time lol. But I would recommend this flooring, and possibly caulk around the edges where the cabinets and other items are. Good luck.

Just saw you on @Wayward Waggs livestream and came over to check out your channel. Love the new flooring! Back when my kids were young we did the same with a popup. 18 years later we have since upgraded a few times into 5th wheels. We are now empty nesters and hitting/on the road full time. Look forward to seeing all of your videos and thank you again for your service! 🇺🇸🇺🇸

RV Traveling MIA Researcher wow that is awesome. Thank you very much for the support. It has been a journey as we are really looking into different travel trailers and fifth wheels with the possibility of going full time RV before I’m eligible to retire in 2025. But still have young kids so trying to see how that will work. What has been some positives and negatives from going full time for you and your family? What kind of fifth wheel do you currently have and what is the tow vehicle?

Hi Meaghan thanks for watching. This project took less than 3 hours. Time for the sweeping, scrubbing and sanitizing the floor, drying, then installation. Having a utility knife was clutch for those wowed angles and to get the pieces to stager. This is a must for any popup in my opinion. It will look better over time instead of the sun scorched yellow spots you get with some floors over time. A lot more projects in mind so stay tuned

H and thanks foe watching. I actually purchased 2 boxes of this from Lowe’s but only used 1 1/2 boxes. Measure the total length of the floor bunk to bunk and the width door to sidewall. Get that square foot plus a little extra. A utility knife will help with cuts and those wired angles around the cabinets. Hope that helps
