Good information! Another subscriber... a question: what power do you think you'll get from that engine? Regards from Portugal
@SuggyRacing
2 ай бұрын
@@JeanMelim Hey. Thanks for the follow, appreciate it. We are hoping for around the 60hp mark. Which isn't enormous, but for a small engine it would be quite the percentage increase on what is standard. My bike made 48hp, the maximum these bikes make as standard is around 50hp. So it's slightly under at the moment. There's loads you can do to these, we decided to do it a budget friendly as we could. The next stage is doing larger pistons and much more work. Hopefully this will be a noticeable difference in performance alongside other CB500 bikes 😁👍

What sort of gain does a flow job get. Is it suitable for a road bike
@SuggyRacing
2 ай бұрын
@@andywilliams4063 It would definitely be good on a road bike, it all helps it with performance. Ben can probably answer better than me, but if you only do porting it will help, but not as much as having the other work done too. It's a balance getting it all running well. A good set up on the Dyno would help a lot too. 👍

short guides for exhaust valves. Can it disipate the heat like that?.
@SuggyRacing

I'm not sure to be honest, I'll ask Ben and get back to you. Although assuming it will be fine with him doing it. 👍
@bencoyle14
3 ай бұрын
Yes without issue. As a percentage I have only removed 5% of the EX guide which is minimal. You are right in what you’re thinking, it is always better to have valve stability & heat dissipation over the small gain in flow which is why on any heads we do, we would only ever remove valve guide material if there is enough to remove without sacrificing stability & heat dissipation.

@@SuggyRacing Honda "could have" done so much more with that engine. The benchmark EX500 was very long in the tooth - even discontinued - thus Honda early on decided that it would be sport-ish and have unrealized potential. A shame, really, but a very nice project for you. and now the CF Moto 450 is nipping on its heels!
@SuggyRacing
Ай бұрын
@@HAL9000-su1mz Yeah they definitely could have pushed it more. I guess that's why these engines are bulletproof and run for miles and miles, nothing pushing them at all. Even what we did can be pushed a lot further. But it's just cost. We went for a more budget friendly power Increase. Ben at BCR gets loads of these to do. 👍
