1 cup semolina (suji)
1 tsp chana dal
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp finely chopped green chilies
8 to 9 curry leaves, dried and crushed
1/4 cup raw peanuts
2 tbsp chopped cashew nuts
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp red chili powder
Instructions:
Dry roast the raw peanuts in a pan until they turn light golden brown and crunchy. Allow them to cool completely before using.
Dry roast the semolina (suji) in a pan until it turns light golden brown. Allow it to cool completely.
In a mixing bowl, combine the cooled semolina with chana dal, mustard seeds, chopped green chilies, crushed curry leaves, roasted peanuts, chopped cashew nuts, salt, and red chili powder. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
Let the mixture cool down completely.
Once cooled, transfer the premix to an airtight container or a zip-lock bag.
Label the container with the name and date of preparation.
To Prepare Instant Upma:
In a bowl, add 1/2 cup of the instant Upma premix.
Pour 1 cup of hot water over the premix.
Cover the bowl and let it sit for 5-7 minutes to allow the semolina to absorb the water and soften.
After 5-7 minutes, uncover the bowl and fluff the Upma with a fork.
Serve hot and enjoy your instant Upma!
