Filmmaker Mikko Mäkelä and actor Ruaridh Mollica sat down with Instinct Magazine's Denny Patterson to talk about their provocative queer drama, "Sebastian," which is now playing on the festival circuit.
Written and directed by Mäkelä, "Sebastian" introduces the world to Ruaridh's character, Max, an aspiring young writer in London who begins living a double life as a sex worker in order to research his debut novel. Finding himself more comfortable with the pseudonym Sebastian than expected, Max increasingly struggles to remain in control of a delicately balanced double-life.
Throughout the interview, Mollica also discusses how meaningful it was to be involved this project and how playing Max made him a better artist, while Mäkelä touches on how he came up with the concept for "Sebastian" and how he wanted to portray a non-judgemental, non-exploitive portrait of sex work.
