I sure hope that you haven't abandoned your build. I was enjoying your videos on the build process. If you have done more building, please post it.

Thanks Kevin! We've went through somewhat of a disaster with getting an engine overhauled. Has been a big setback schedule wise and financially, but I hope to finally be through all of that sometime this summer! The wiring is mostly complete but we haven't posted anything on that as I was hoping to finish the little bit of firewall forward wiring to capture all of it in one video. At any rate, I hope to be working on the project again soon and I certainly plan to continue with documenting our process. Appreciate your kind comments.

Just wanted to throw out there that as another BH5 builder this series is just as helpful as any documentation available. This is a huge contribution to the community and we really appreciate it. Can't say how many times I've looked at something 10 times until I pull out one of your videos and it becomes so clear. Looking forward to seeing the plane at Oshkosh one of these years!

The wood veneer looks super cool and unique plus it goes great with the stick grips. I can't believe you DIY'd the panel that hard. It looks amazing and you are a genius (I didn't follow half of the digitizing panels and taking pictures minimizing distortion wizardry). Everything looks so clean and well thought out.

Only just found your channel, great content, thanx. I’m building with no kit so I dare say there’ll be more questions, but for starters, is your dog growling when you point the camera at him? Or trying to smile for the photo? Haha

Thanks! It’s a “smile.” A submissive gesture not uncommon amongst some of the herding breeds. I greatly admire the skills and determination of a scratch builder. Hope to hear more about your project someday.

Love the videos and the interesting editing. Love the Bearhawk planes and your videos are inspiring and educational. I hope to hope to see more of this plane through completion and excited to see it fly. Been a year since this last video was posted. Hope the journey has not ended. Curious to see what engine was selected. Im guessing the 540.

The build looks great, and thanks for taking the time to create and share the videos. What are you using for electrical over current protection? Fuses? Circuit breakers?
@ColbyOsborn

Thanks David. I'm using ATC style blade fuses. I've considered using a circuit breaker for the alternator field, but haven't decided. I hope to discuss my electrical system in a future video.

We don’t have a scheme set in stone yet, but envisioning a black nose with a stripe or two that continues back to the tail. So there will most likely be a little bit of Oratex that gets painted.

I just found your channel and think this is super cool! What an awesome plane I didn’t know anything about! About how much is it costing you to build this? Can you get these for a reasonable price? I’m coming out of college and want to get into aviation but have very small budget.
@ColbyOsborn
Жыл бұрын
Thanks! This one will be around 160k. There are a million ways to make it cheaper, but the propeller and engine for a plane this size will generally make it more expensive to build than some of the smaller homebuilt planes.
