That California is an amazing find! It is very rare to see something that close to clear as most of the clear insulators back then turned purple due to manganese in the glass, definitely an amazing thing to find in the wild.

Oh wow! By the way I love your videos thank you for watching! I found a lot of them I wish they where purple but I have found three or four of them and I kinda want to get rid of 2 because I have extras, how old are they?

How do you track down these old rail lines? This was an insane find to see the entire line just disintegrating…I want to begin hobby hunting insulators but am clueless where to start! I’m in New Jersey - any tips are great

Big thing to find rails are google maps and look hard to see insulator poles near your area main thing is for me I grew up looking for stuff so I would pay attention to everything around me, another thing is insulator collectors can tell you anything you want to know,I got afraid to tell me where is train wreck was and now I got to go find evidence of that. Get to know insulator collectors it a hobby you will not regret, I’ve made friends found new music and found so many things because of insulators,I recommend starting in the spring but it’s up to you, let nothing stop you!

@@industrialintensity2101 I’ve already started looking at maps from the late 1800s up to 1940s and found multiple railways near me - I am in the pine barrens so probably has to be some old untouched lines ! I’m excited haha

That's good.....I say that cuz of dry rot and shifting winds......not to mention they took out guys left and right sometimes back in the day, I guess call it cautious to cowboyitis.......about that petticoat insulator you found, I can't remember if it was this program or a different one but did you ever find a date on it....only reason I ask is cuz I got one from a local dump and the only break it's got is where the year was embossed on the skirt and the break is conveniently in said spot. Happy hunting and best of adventures.
