The intaglio process often involves an aquatint ground to add tone. Traditionally the aquatint printmaking process involved rosin powder. this provided great results but rosin carries health risks. These days sugar-lift techniques and acrylic spray resists are providing good results, and used carefully, are less dangerous to respiratory system.
This video shares my approach to the subject. It shows me cleaning ground from the copper plate and producing a proof print to inspect the first layer of line etching. Then, after further cleaning and degreasing, my set-up for spraying an acrylic aquatint resist.
