Finally a showcase video that explain the insulation/non insulation of these rigs. Anyone have any apprehensive feelings on this besides me??

The insulation, or lack there of, is a problem. Our A/C runs constantly during the mid-day to try and keep the trailer cool. I wish they had a better option for sure.

Looks like it's something we'll have to ask from each company before buying. Sus, I had my eyes set on the Sol Horizon. But I can't understand why they don't put more insulator during build. That space could afford another R5 of insulation. It can't cost that much more, and with that much exposure it shouldn't cost more labor time.

I am a big fan of the construction of these units. Im not worried about it being able to withstand sub-freezing temps. And the fact its aluminum us folks hauling them in the snowbelt (salt!) makes it less likes to deteriorate/rust. Looking at picking up a Discover soon.

It’s amazing how great, above the entire RV industry, Lance is made when you look at the manufacturing practices like this, or any RV factory in Indiana for that matter.

Lance is more like other RV manufacturers than intech. No one on the market right now has a caged structure like this. Lance the floor is floating on the frame and attached to the frame on the outriggers. Where as the floor here is part of the frame and walls. There’s no hurricane strapping here 😂

@@fulltimethrivenadventures2686 Hi...not to be too nosy, but what type of towing vehicle are you going to use? I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 V6 4.3 liter with 3.23 gears. The GCWR for my truck is 11,000 lbs which means it's right at the limit of towing the Navigate. My Chevy dealer told me that I'll have to swap the rear gears to a 3.43 in order to increase my towing capacity and perhaps some heavier springs for about $300. It's about $4k to change the gears but it's still much cheaper than buying a used or new truck for $50k.

I am a bit leery of the taped on aluminum exterior skin. Also doesn't seem to be built with maintenance/repair in mind. Would hate to have a wiring, plumbing, or weld crack issue !! Also would like to see heat & hot water systems upgraded to modern offerings, and a generator. I am VERY impressed with the cleanliness and organization of the factory floor...

I've been considering one of these and it's great to get the build questions answered. I'm fine with the 3m tape. People would be surprised if they new how many high end products out there use just adhesives. This includes lot of commercial applications in the transportation sector. It's similar to ZIP tape for a house. It's great as long as you apply it correctly. The margin of error is the only concern. You'd almost need to add a blower door test as part of the QC as they go out the door to verify. Even if it was random sampling you'd be able to calculate your failure rates and then return to analyze your application process if needed.

We really like our OVR but the insulation is one of the major down sides. I understand the reasoning behind not taking the time to fill all the different gaps in the frame with better insulation but it does cause the trailer to run hot.

@@fulltimethrivenadventures2686 Yeah this is a big miss for me. I totally understand how they came to this decision and am willing to sacrifice Azdel sides for the aluminum frame. I actually preferred that. He was honest about the weak points in the build and that it's only a three season camper. If they were too smooth and polished I'd almost be more suspicious of the build. The fact that he normally doesn't get in front of the camera also means he probably is usually working on design or other build processes.
